Crockpot French Onion Soup
Ingredients:
- 1 sweet onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp butter, melted
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 slices of bread, thick cut and toasted and cubed
- 4 oz Gruyere cheese, shredded
Directions:
- Carefully cut the onion into rings, then in half.
- Place onions in 4 quart crockpot.
- Add salt, pepper, butter, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cook on low for 7 hours until nicely brown and carmelized.
- Pour beef broth into slow cooker and cook for at least one hour.
- When broth is done, preheat broiler to high.
- Place to oven safe soup bowls on a baking sheet.
- Place onion soup in bowls. Top with cubed toasted bread. Sprinkle with cheese.
- Broil until cheese is bubbly and golden, about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve
