Title: Start with Why

Author: Simon Sinek

Genre: personal development

How I Read It: physical book

My Rating: 1 of 5

Amazon Description: The inspiring, life-changing bestseller by the author of LEADERS EAT LAST and TOGETHER IS BETTER.

In 2009, Simon Sinek started a movement to help people become more inspired at work, and in turn inspire their colleagues and customers. Since then, millions have been touched by the power of his ideas, including more than 28 million who’ve watched his TED Talk based on START WITH WHY -- the third most popular TED video of all time.

Sinek starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over?

People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers had little in common, but they all started with WHY. They realized that people won't truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the WHY behind it.

START WITH WHY shows that the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way -- and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with WHY.

My Review: I learned a lot about different successful companies and their why but the book could have been a lot shorter if the author didn't keep repeating himself. I honestly didn't finish the book and I have picked up up a few different times to complete it and it just isn't going to happen.

Title: The All You Can Dream Buffet

Author: Barbara O'Neal

Genre: chick lit

How I Read It: hard copy from the library

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: Popular blogger and foodie queen Lavender Wills reigns over Lavender Honey Farms, a serene slice of organic heaven nestled in Oregon wine country. Lavender is determined to keep her legacy from falling into the profit-driven hands of uncaring relatives, and she wants an heir to sustain her life’s work after she’s gone. So she invites her three closest online friends—fellow food bloggers, women of varied ages and backgrounds—out to her farm. She hopes to choose one of them to inherit it—but who?

There’s Ginny, the freckle-faced Kansas cake baker whose online writing is about to lead her out of a broken marriage and into a world of sensual delights. And Ruby, young, pregnant, devoted to the organic movement, who’s looking for roots—and the perfect recipe to heal a shattered heart. Finally, Val, smart and sophisticated, a wine enthusiast who needs a fresh start for her teenage daughter after tragedy has rocked their lives. Coming together will change the Foodie Four in ways they could never have imagined, uniting them in love and a common purpose. As they realize that life doesn’t always offer a perfect recipe for happiness, they also discover that the moments worth savoring are flavored with some tears, a few surprises, and generous helping of joy.

My Review: As a blogger myself I enjoyed reading about other bloggers who met up with completely different backgrounds and stories that brought them together. It was a sweet cozy read, a little predictable, while being inspiring on friendship connections.

Title:
What's Gabby Cooking Eat What You Want

Author: Gabby Dalkin

Genre: cookbook

How I Read It: hardcopy from library

My Rating: 2 out of 5

Amazon Description: Finally! A cookbook for people who have had enough with rules and restrictions and are ready for delicious food that makes them feel good.

In her follow-up to her breakout success
What’s Gaby Cooking, Gaby Dalkin reveals the secret to a happy life: balance. Eat What You Want reflects how Gaby eats in real life, and for her, balancing moderation and indulgence is everything. No deprivation, no “bad foods” list. The only rule? Enjoy your food. Whether you are looking for lighter dishes filled with tons of fresh fruits and veggies (like a Cauliflower Shawarma Bowl or lemony Tahini Broccolini), or soul-soothing dishes like (Ham and Cheese Croissant Bread or Strawberry Crispy Cobblers), Gaby has you covered.

All told,
Eat What You Want is an invitation/permission slip/pep rally for you to let go of all the noise around what you choose to eat. Choose joy! Choose fun! Choose no apologies or excuses. But most of all, choose whatever makes you happy.

My Review: I grabbed this book from the library with no previous knowledge of Gabby or her recipes. There was nothing in her cookbook that stood out to me that I wanted to make.

Title: Sinful Escape

Author: Kitty Kendall

Genre: romance

How I Read It: ebook available on kindle unlimited

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: My brilliant strategy to get over the man who lied to me for years:

Move eight thousand miles away to Europe. Check.
Start work as a tour guide, a job that takes me way beyond my comfort zone.
Check
Never fall in love again. EVER.

Then I get news that shatters my perfect, nerdy, introverted lifestyle. I have only six months left in Europe. But there’s still so much I want to see and do, and time is ticking. So, look out Europe, it's time partayyyy!

At least, that
was my plan until I met my new Italian co-worker, Roman, who speaks three languages, makes his own pasta, and is so freaking hot he should come with a hazard label.

When Roman declares himself as my on-tour, wing-man, Mr. Perfect twists my heart into all sort of knots. But can I risk re-opening my fragile heart? Or is it destined to be hogtied all over again when I’m forced to return to Australia?

If you like Pippa Grant, and Lauren Landish and Kayley Loring, then you're going to love meeting Daisy in Six Months of Sin, so scroll up and one-click today.

My Review: Fun read, kept you hooked the whole time. Also makes me want to travel to Europe now.

Title: Sinful Temptation

Author: Kitty Kendall

Genre: romance

How I Read It: ebook available on kindle unlimited

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: I am a terrible wing-woman. It’s so hard. One minute I’m pretending to check out some chick for Roman, my hotter than hot co-worker, next minute I’m checking out him. I mean, what’s a girl to do.

He is Mr. P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

To help Roman get over his ex, I need to focus. I’m willing to put my body on the line if I have to. After all, he’s worth it.

But as we tour around Europe. . . me doing what I do best, my job as a European tour guide, and him as my driver, bending over all the time as he ensures all the heavy suitcases come with us, the distractions are as bold as a naked hunk cartwheeling across a stage.

Then disaster strikes in the form of my rotten Mother. We haven’t spoken in years. She is one of the reasons why I don’t believe in love. But now she has cancer and wants me to come home to look after her. Why should I? She abandoned me as a child. But what would that say about me if I abandon the only relative I have?

Should I run to the bedside of the woman who stopped being my mother when I was fourteen? Or should I stay and help Roman, the man who saved me in so many ways?

My Review: Not exactly what I had expected, I expected more of a focus on Roman. I loved the unexpected twists and the love the characters even more.
