Hodge Podge

Hey loves. Happy Wednesday. We have made it halfway through the week and it has been a crazy week. It feels like I am living in my car. It has been a while since I linked up with Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond for Wednesday Hodge podge. So lets go.

1. What's something bizarre you've seen or heard recently?

I was organizing our calendars for the upcoming school year. My kids school is off for the eclipse in 2024. It says no school and reason eclipse. It's weird but I am also excited to be able to do something with them.

2. July 18th is National Sour Candy Day. Who knew? Do you like sour candies or other foods with 'sour' flavors? Kimchi, rhubarb, gooseberries, tamarind, dill pickles, sour cherries, sauerkraut, cranberries, and  grapefruit...of the sour foods listed which is your favorite?

There are so many weird "Nationals Day" and I am here for it all usually. I am not a big sour candy or food person. I do like to the flavor in a grapefruit beer.

3. Share a favorite memory of an aunt or uncle.

I grew up with 2 aunts and 3 uncles that we were close with them all. (not so much anymore. ) One of my favorite memories is my one aunt use to live 7 houses down the street from us. Whenever we came over, which was often she always had a drink for us. It was usually pop that we didn't get at home.

4. How would you describe your ability to manage stress?

I would say I handle stress pretty well. I try to keep myself busy to avoid thinking about it at times and other times I do try to isolate myself.

5. What do you think about when you let your mind wander?

Right now if my mind is wandering it is all about what I still want to do this summer with my kids.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Anyone else feel like this summer is flying by? My kids have 35 days until they go back to school. We went from being on vacation to family in town to Ella being on vacation and now Ella is at summer camp for the week. We are going to finally get into a new routine and it will be time to switch it up again to go back to school. Summer is to short.

Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,

Feel free to follow along.

  1. I feel like summer is so long! It's like 3 whole months here. That's fun that the kids are off for the eclipse. The one we had here a few years ago was so cool to see. We took our kids out of school for it but only for like an hour!

  2. I feel like this summer is flying by. We've had a lot of company and now have a couple weeks of less busy stuff which I'm also enjoying. My hubs just asked me what I was going to do this morning and I said my plan was to drink coffee in my pjs and read blogs. I have not done this in ages. Enjoy what's left of your summer! I'm going to check out the eclipse info. The last eclipse went right over our lake-we were in the main viewing zone and it was so cool.

  3. Yes, our summer is flying by! It seems weird. And that's pretty odd they'd be off for an eclipse!

    1. I think part of the reason is the time the eclipse is set to pass is right at the time of school dismissal

  5. That's pretty cool that your kids' school is giving them a day off for the eclipse. Will you be able to see it from where you are?

  6. Interesting about the day off, but that could be a fun time to enjoy doing something on that day. I enjoyed the rest of your answers. My girls are adults but it does seem like summer is going by too fast.
