Hey love. How is your summer going? We are enjoying the last of our summer, my kids actually don't go back until the end of the month. But I have friends kids that start school in the next week. The back to school e-mails have started, the stores have all the school supplies, and all the things. There are so many things that I want/need to get done, lists that need made, etc. I am sharing some tips to help with getting ready for Back to School.
- Brain Dump- write down everything that needs to be bought, done, cleaned, gone through, etc. Put it all on one list, no organization, just write it down. Then go back and organize your list.
- School Supplies- See what you already have on hand before shopping. Grab a few extra to keep on hand at home.
- Clothes- Go through their current clothes. Kids grow so fast what fit in the spring may not fit in the fall. You don't need to buy all new clothes before the beginning of the year.
- Routines- Start early to get into a routine. Adjust bedtimes, wake up times, the amount of snacks your kids get.
- Set Goals and Expectations-
- Where they are to put their bookbags
- If homework gets done before going to play or after dinner
- Where important papers go
- Goals on grades, extra curriculars, etc.
- Meal Plan- Make a meal plan for dinners the first week and keep it simple. Also come up with ideas for school lunches. If your kids are little make sure they practice opening their lunch box, opening the fruit snack package or cheese stick, putting the straw in the juice box etc.
- Calendar- Add the school calendar to your family calendar. (one year I thought we started on the wrong day thankfully I looked in advance) Add all the random days off school, etc.
- Label everything- Besides school supplies, be sure to label coats, sweaters, extra shoes, etc.
- Prepare Back to School Traditions
- Photo sign
- Special breakfasts and/or dinner
- First day of school books
- "Kissing Hand" bracelets
- Interviews
