Spring Break 2026

Hey loves. Last week my kids were on their Spring Break from school. I hate to say it was the most unplanned break my kids have had but also a much needed slow down.

Friday April 3

Not the ideal start to Spring Break for Austin having his ear surgery to drain an infection and tubes put in. Surgery took a little longer than expected because the infection was worse than originally thought. But he did great.

Austin's request for his first meal after surgery was a Big Mac from McDonalds. He was so happy to come home and eat. He got to spend the rest of the day resting and on his tablet.

While Brian and I took Austin to his surgery my mom came and hung out with the girls. She spoiled them with snacks and playing games with Anna.

That evening our friends came over for a little bit. Ella and I went and did some grocery shopping then we headed to our friends house for dinner.

Brian and our neighbor helped Anna to learn to ride her bike without training wheels. Her training wheels were bent and she was riding at a 45 degree tilt. (we would unbend the training wheels and they would just go back to being bent when she put weight on it) She was riding like a pro after two tries.

Dinner was grilled hot dogs, the kids ran around, minus Austin and his buddy chilled on tablets, then we called it an early night.

Saturday April 4

Somewhat busy morning. I slept in some, Brian had an early morning showing, and we had lunch scheduled with the Easter bunny. The time was put in the calendar wrong so we were a little late.

Zoom in- My true Disney princess brushing her hair with a fork. Welcome to having a teenager.

Lunch with the Easter bunny.

The grandkids on Brian's side.

Our attempt at a family picture with a teenager and wind doesn't always go as planned.

Brian, his mom, and his brother Brandon.

We finally colored eggs. We kept it very simple with just dying this year. We attempted to draw on the eggs and it didn't show up so we gave up on it. I realized afterwards the egg kit we were given was from a store that closed 2 years ago. They still had fun.

Austin also showed Anna how to start riding her bike without help. She is now a pro.

Sunday April 5

Happy Easter from Anna. I didn't realize she was taking pictures on my phone at church, granted I was running around a lot helping out before service.

It was so great seeing so many kids for the children's message. There are also more kids that were in the pews who didn't come upfront and more kids that were at the second service.

Happy Easter from our family. We got a family picture taken before anyone showed up for brunch.

Anna talked Ella into doing some face paint and lipstick.

We hosted brunch for about 20 people which included family and friends. It was a smooth quiet gathering. Then a relaxing low key evening that included a nap.

Monday April 6

Back to reality. Even though my kids are home Brian and I had to work. Ella was home to watch her siblings.

Work was stressful with all three printers not working, and nothing seemed to be going right at first. By the end of my shift things were going a little smoother.

I worked for a few hours at the church, Brian was in and out of the house with appointments and showings. The weather was cold and crappy we had a low key evening at home. I took no photos all day.

Tuesday April 7

Another day off to work for a few hours. Anna went to grandma's for a playdate with her cousin. Ella was home with Austin.

Ella's friend who came over on Easter bought this gorgeous bouquet of flowers with him.

I started a new 60 daily devotional on motherhood that I am loving.

Brian worked most of the evening so it was just the kids and me. Anna and I played a few games and cuddled.

Wednesday April 8

Brian made an omelette with ham for breakfast. It was delicious and the perfect pairing with fresh sourdough.

Mommy's little work partner. I got some blog work, real estate, and church work done while Anna sat at the table with me and colored.

Anna got a new puzzle for Easter. Now we have 5 puzzles from His Kids Company and Ryan & Rose that are different Bible stories that Anna loves. I love that the puzzles are thick and easy to put the pieces together.

Anna completed all 5 puzzles then insisted on taking a picture with my phone. Turns out she took 52 photos and 3 videos.

Thursday April 9

I spent a few hours at work getting everything ready for service on Sunday. Then headed home to go on an adventure with the family. The weather was suppose to be in the low 70s with a chance of rain, the first nice day of spring break.

We loaded up the van then stopped by Dave's Cosmic Subs and grabbed sandwiches for everyone. We ended up eating in the car, which turned out to be a bad idea. They were so messy. I ended up with oil on my shirt, there was lettuce and shredded cheese everywhere, etc. It is our favorite sub place, but the new location by our house makes the subs different they are so messy and I haven't figured out what they do differently. (we also haven't been to the other location recently either)

We renewed our Cleveland Zoo membership and spent a few hours walking around checking out the animals.

Anna was so excited her pants matched the leopard.

Their were 3 baby gorillas that were so active.

We had a fun quick trip. This was the first time we went to the zoo without having a stroller. Anna did awesome and only asked to be carried once. She did complain she was tired and hot a few times (so did Austin) but they were still troopers. We did the whole zoo in 3 hours, which was a lot quicker than what we would have done with the stroller having to wait on people etc. Also not all the animals were out with it still being off season and two days before we had temps in the 20s.

We got home from the zoo and Austin fell asleep. He started complaining again his ear was hurting, and earlier in the day Brian noticed discharge again.

After dinner Ella and I did some shopping. She had a list of places she wanted to go. I ended up not buying anything but saw that hot pink make-up bag that was screaming my name. The picture doesn't do it justice of how bright it was.

Friday April 10

It was sleepover night. We swapped kids with our neighbors. The girls (and little boy) stayed down the street, and we had Austin and his friend. Both sleepovers were success, everyone got along and they actually slept in.

It was a gorgeous day and we had a random pile of wood from the garage that had been sitting all winter. I decided it was the perfect day to start burning the wood. We also large tree branches that fell in our last big storm that we have started burning too.

I kicked the boys off their tablets to play outside before it started to rain.

While burning wood I got some blog work done, and cleaned off the patio.

Ella also helped me bring out the patio furniture out of the shed also.

We got it all done then it started raining.

We ended the evening with our other neighbor and her kids over and making homemade sourdough pizza.

I also had been messaging with Austin's nurse and ENT about his ear pain and drainage. They got him on another antibiotic and more ear drops. We have an appointment on Monday afternoon.

Saturday April 11

A relaxing day at home with no plans, is that even a thing? Brian had to work but the kids and I just hung out at home. I did a bunch of reading, cleaning, and making sourdough English muffins.

Sunday April 12

Church and taxes to start our day.

I got home and folded all the laundry then started burning more wood.

while my kids played on the trampoline. This was after I threaded if they didn't play on it we were going to get rid of it.

She is such a vibe.

Brian finally got to cut the grass, Austin was picking up all the sticks, Anna just being a monkey in the tree.

Austin pointed out a heart in the clouds, Anna saw a chicken.

We ended the evening with friends, an early bedtime for back to school.

Update on Austin- when we went out the ENT on Monday there was no more infection. Everything looks good. Continue to take his antibiotic, we no longer need to do the drops. If we have any issues, he continues having pain that gets worse etc to come back. We go back in 6 months to see if the tubes have fallen out. He can't get his ears wet so cotton balls in the shower, and ear plugs in the pool.
