18 weeks and a high risk

Happy Monday. It is already feeling like a Monday at 10 am. I am ready for Tuesday to get here and a fresh start. We had an eventful windy weekend with losing power, and damage done to the kids swing set. Once the wind finally dies down we will see what can be done with it. We also, I say we as in the guys finished our basement for the most part that we have a brightly colored living space with a kids toy area. It is so relaxing having this extra space, more on that later.

I haven't done a pregnancy update in a while so I thought I would drop in and share some updates.

Austin is enjoying the mommy's pregnant. We do lots of cuddling, take a nap each day, plus lots of playing with trains and cars.

It is hard to believe I am already 18 weeks. It feels like it is going fast at times. Only 21 weeks and 6 days (that is if I go until my due date). Last week I had my monthly check up and everything is going good. This coming Friday is my anatomy scan. Even though we are not finding out the sex of the baby they will check and make sure baby is doing well. We will also have them check the baby's kidneys to see if there are any complications like Austin has.

A comment was made to me "Just because your pregnant doesn't mean you can't do anything" This is correct for most pregnant women. I am considered high risk with hyperemesis gravidarum. I have learned with this being my third pregnancy certain things can trigger an "episode" which could put me back in the hospital. Which is always a health risk for myself and my baby. I also have nerve damage from a previous injury that has already started to flare up which effects my legs. I have been experiencing sciatica which at times limits what I am able to do as well. This is also my second pregnancy where I have been diagnosed with pregnancy induced asthma early on, which I don't deal with when I am not pregnant. With that all that being said I am not on bed rest, I still get out of the house and do stuff, but I limit myself to avoid complications.

Time for some pregnancy highlights for this week.
How Far Along Are You: 18 weeks
Size of Baby according to the bump: artichoke
Total Weight Gain/Loss: According to the scale at the doctors office I am back to the weight I was before getting pregnant and losing weight with being sick.
Maternity Clothes: Yes and No. I have been wearing yoga pants or maternity leggings. Some of my shirts still cover my bump, some are a little to tight.
Gender: team GREEN
Movement: randomly, usually at night when laying down. Or a few times Austin was leaning back against my stomach I felt baby kick him, he didn't feel it.
Sleep: I toss and turn a lot. Usually get up at least once to go pee
Cravings: bbq, funyons, and fruit
Symptoms: round ligament pain, hips hurting, still nauseous and vomiting. Some heart burn has started and I'm hungry more often.
Best Moment (s) this week: got out of the house this past weekend and walked around.

  1. I think it is wise that you are taking it easy during pregnancy to avoid risk of problems! Thanks for linking up with Hello Monday! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road

  2. Take it easy! You definitely want to make sure you don't end up in the hospital. You know yourself better than anyone; don't listen to what others say and just keep doing what you need to.
