Pregnancy Update: Week 27

Happy Monday. Hope you had a great weekend. I am so excited that Ella is home with us after being on vacation with her dad for the past week. Now it is time to get her back into the swing of school, a schedule, and having rules.

So much has been going on with this pregnancy. When they say every pregnancy is different, they aren't lieing. I hate being told "Well you are older". I am only 33, I had a baby 4 years ago and didn't have these same problems then. Let's take a minute to document what is going on so far.

27 Weeks

Pain-

Movement- This bundle of joy is always moving, or at least it seems that way. We have noticed when she/he is sideways by the way my stomach looks and what parts are hard. There have been a lot of hiccups I have been feeling, which is still the weirdest thing ever. There is no question is there is a "monster" in my belly.

Iron- My blood work came back that my iron is low. I am now on an iron supplement everyday. I didn't have this issue with either pregnancy.

Hyperemesis gravidarum- I am still dealing with morning sickness every morning. If I don't eat something when I wake up and take my nauseous pill I am still getting sick. There are still those random days where the meds are not helping and I spend quiet a bit of time hugging the porcelain god.

Diabetes- Here is my huge change going on currently. I failed my one hour glucose test a few weeks ago. With both my previous pregnancies I passed them with no problem. Then I went to take my 3 hour glucose, which you have to fast for 10 hours before hand, no food, drink or meds. You drink 100grams of sugar drink and supposed to get your blood taken every hour afterwards for 3 hours. I got sick an hour after drinking the sugar drink. It means the test is void and you have to go back and take it again. I tried again 2 days later, and lasted a little over an hour. Since I am unable to do the test they automatically assume that I have gestational diabetes. As of right now for 2 weeks I have to check my sugar level 4x a day to see how my body is reacting to sugar. From there they will analyze the reading and determine if I really have gestational diabetes. If I do I will have to see a nutritionist. If not I can stop with the blood sugar readings. Right now we are just waiting to get the diabetes stuff from my insurance company.

Cravings- Sweets, bbq, root beer floats

Appetite- Instead of eating big meals I graze/snack throughout the day.

Weight Gain- gained 7 pounds

Sleep- Some nights are really rough. Between tossing and turning to get comfortable, getting up sometimes every hour to go pee, and now I have been dealing with pregnancy nightmares. I need to stop reading articles online.

Heartburn- Everyday sometimes a few times a day. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or when I eat it. Pepcid AC has become my best friend. I did have heartburn with both other kids and they both came out with full heads of hair.

Preperations- I hate to say we haven't done anything to prepare. My girlfriend was generous enough to give us a bassinet she no longer uses since we had originally planned on using the Fisher Price rock n play that has been recalled. We have talked about sleep arrangements but haven't set anything in motion. We plan on getting Ella and Austin bunk beds and them sharing a room for a little while. I need to get my butt in gear with going through baby clothes while I still have energy. We also need to trade in a carseat at Target and buy a new infant car seat. We really don't need to much just random odds and ends like a new changing pad, bottle nipples, breast feeding accessories, etc.

Last night when I had Brian take my picture Austin wanted to take a picture of me too. Most of his turned out blurry but this one turned out good. He may be my new photographer in the future.
