Every year for Friendsgiving I borrow my parents roaster to make our turkey. Not only does it free up the oven to cook other things, but is also makes such a moist delicious turkey. I also love that it is easy than having to bend up and lift the turkey in and out of the oven.
Roaster Turkey

Ingredients:
- 14-20 lb thawed turkey
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
- salt/pepper
- onion chopped in 1/4 sections
Directions:
- Place rack in roaster
- Remove gilbets and neck from turkey and pat dry
- Place turkey in roaster on rack breast side up
- Rub the turkey with butter. (I also butter under the skin to add more flavor and moisture)
- Season with salt and pepper
- Place half of onion inside cavity of turkey. Take two other 1/4 of onion and place between skin and meat of the turkey.
- Cover the roaster. Cook at 400 degrees for 30 minutes
- Reduce heat to 325 and cook for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Until thermometer reads 165degrees
- Slice
- Serve
