Swedish Meatballs
Ingredients:
Meatballs:
- 2 slices of bread, I used sourdough bread
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 lb ground turkey
- 1/2 medium onion, grated
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- salt/pepper
Sauce:
- 6 Tbps butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 15 oz beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 Tbsp parsley
- salt/pepper to taste
- cornstarch
Directions:
Meatballs:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil.
- Cut up bread into pieces and place in a food processor. Process into fine crumbs.
- In a bowl combine breadcrumbs and water and let sit for a few minnutes.
- Mix the bread and the rest of the meatball ingredients.
- Shape meat mixture into 1.5 inch balls. Place 1 inch apart on baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until no longer pink in the middle
Sauce:
- While the meatballs are baking, in a large pan melt the butter.
- Add the flour to the butter and whisk well.
- Add beef broth, heavy cream, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning. Bring to a boil. Then reduce heat to low.
- Add 1 to 2 Tbsp of corn starch to thicken if needed.
- Add in meatballs. Simmering until sauce has thickened
- Serve
