 Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients:

Meatballs:

  • 2 slices of bread, I used sourdough bread
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 medium onion, grated
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • salt/pepper

Sauce:

  • 6 Tbps butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 15 oz beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp parsley
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • cornstarch 


Directions:

Meatballs:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil. 
  2. Cut up bread into pieces and place in a food processor. Process into fine crumbs. 
  3. In a bowl combine breadcrumbs and water and let sit for a few minnutes. 
  4. Mix the bread and the rest of the meatball ingredients. 
  5. Shape meat mixture into 1.5 inch balls. Place 1 inch apart on baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until no longer pink in the middle


Sauce:

  1. While the meatballs are baking, in a large pan melt the butter. 
  2. Add the flour to the butter and whisk well.
  3. Add beef broth, heavy cream, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning. Bring to a boil. Then reduce heat to low.
  4.  Add 1 to 2 Tbsp of corn starch to thicken if needed.
  5. Add in meatballs. Simmering until sauce has thickened
  6. Serve
  7. Enjoy!!!
