Hey loves. How was your weekend? We have a somewhat but also relaxing weekend. It started with temps in the 60s and doors open on Friday and some snow on Sunday. Welcome to Ohio with fake spring and back to normal weather for January. It was the nice pick up and motivation I needed to clean and organize some.
It is time for the first Share Our Lives link up of 2026. Join Dara, Jen, Joanna, and myself on the second Monday of every month we share different aspects of our lives.
Winter is great for cozy nights and comfort food. I love snow, but not being out in it. Whether you’re heading out or staying in, these simple tips will help you stay warm and comfortable all winter long. These will be good for my local ladies this week as we got teased with warmer temps last week, now we are back to snow and possible wind-chill below 0.
Layer Up
When it’s cold out, layers are your best friend. Start with something warm underneath, add a cozy sweater, and finish with a good coat. Don’t forget a hat and gloves—those make a big difference. You will usually find me with a tank top and a sweatshirt or sweater on and socks or slippers.
Make Your Home Feel Extra Cozy
Block out drafts, close the curtains at night, and grab those throw blankets. A few small changes can make your home feel warmer without cranking up the heat. We keep our thermostat at 68 degrees in the winter. Ella and I both have electric blankets on our beds. We also have numerous throw blankets around the house.
Enjoy Warm Food & Drinks
Nothing beats a hot bowl of soup or chili on a cold day. Warm drinks like coffee, tea, or hot chocolate can help you feel cozy from the inside out. At least once a week we have soup with bread or grilled cheese. I use the leftovers for lunch for the week too.
Keep Moving
If you’re feeling chilly, get up and move around. A quick walk, some stretching, or even a little housework can help warm you up. A workout is always good too.
Add Soft, Cozy Touches
Thicker blankets, fuzzy socks, area rugs, and flannel sheets all help make winter feel a lot more comfortable.
Let the Sun Help Out
On sunny days, open the blinds and let the sunshine warm things up. Just remember to close them again once it gets dark. On the days when it is below zero we keep the blinds close to help keep the warmth inside. (even with new windows)
Warm Up Before Bed
A warm shower or bath before bed can help you relax and stay warm longer.
Stay Ahead of the Cold
Changing furnace filters and keeping your heating system running smoothly can save you from chilly surprises later in the season.
Winter doesn’t have to be all about the cold—add a little cozy wherever you can and enjoy the season. ❄️☕ What tips do you have to stay warm?

We keep our heat at 68 too but on those sunny days (even when it's freezing cold out!) our windows will let in enough sunlight that we've had it get up to 73 in here. I love what I jokingly refer to as our free solar heat.
ReplyDeleteFantastic advice! Layering up is a big one and really does help. I would love a proper fireplace, just seeing a flame would make things feel warmer.
ReplyDeleteI had to turn up my heat last night!
