Title: Bookshop by the Sea

Author: Denise Hunter

Genre: romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Sophie Lawson should be enjoying her sister’s wedding day. But nothing could have prepared her to see the best man again.

After her mother became bedridden and her father bailed on the family, Sophie found herself serving as a second mother to her twin brother, Seth, and younger sister, Jenna. Sophie supported her siblings through their college years, putting aside her own dream of opening a bookshop in Piper’s Cove - the quaint North Carolina beach town they frequented as children.

Now it’s finally time for Sophie to follow her own pursuits. Seth has a new job, and Jenna is set to marry her college beau in Piper’s Cove. But the destination wedding reunites Sophie with best man Aiden Maddox, her high school sweetheart who left her without a backward glance.

When an advancing hurricane strands Aiden in Piper’s Cove after the wedding, he finds the hotels booked to capacity and has to ask Sophie to put him up until the storm passes. As the two ride out the weather, old feelings rise to the surface. The delay also leaves Sophie with mere days to get her bookshop up and running. Can she trust Aiden to stick around? And will he find the courage to risk his heart?

Praise for Bookshop by the Sea

My Review: A second chance love story that is perfect for summer with a hurricane, wedding, and new beginnings. The characters were likable and relatable.

Title: Always the Last to Know

Author: Kristan Higgins

Genre: romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: The Frosts are a typical American family. Barb and John, married almost fifty years, are testy and bored with each other...who could blame them after all this time? At least they have their daughters-- Barb's favorite, the perfect, brilliant Juliet; and John's darling, the free-spirited Sadie. The girls themselves couldn't be more different, but at least they got along, more or less. It was fine. It was enough.

Until the day John had a stroke, and their house of cards came tumbling down.

Now Sadie has to put her career as a teacher and struggling artist in New York on hold to come back and care for her beloved dad--and face the love of her life, whose heart she broke, and who broke hers. Now Juliet has to wonder if people will notice that despite her perfect career as a successful architect, her perfect marriage to a charming Brit, and her two perfect daughters, she's spending an increasing amount of time in the closet having panic attacks.

And now Barb and John will finally have to face what's been going on in their marriage all along.

My Review: A complicated family drama that is so relatable. Secrets are revealed when the father has a stroke.

Title: Tell Me Everything: A Memoir

Author: Minka Kelly

Genre: Memoir

How I Read It:  audiobook from library

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: Fans know her as the spoiled, rich cheerleader Lyla Garrity on Friday Night Lights or as the affluent, mysterious Samantha on the HBO megahit Euphoria. But as revealed for the first time in these pages, Minka Kelly’s life has been anything but easy.

Raised by a single mother who worked as a stripper and struggled with addiction, Minka spent years waking up in strange apartments as she and her mom bounced around the country, relying on friends and relatives to take them in. At times they even lived in storage units. She reconnected with her father, Aerosmith’s Rick Dufay, and eventually made her way to Los Angeles, where she landed the role of a lifetime on
Friday Night Lights.

Now an established actress and philanthropist, Minka takes this next step in her career as a writer. She has poured her soul into the pages of this book, which ultimately tells a story of triumph over adversity, and how resilience and love are all we have in the end.

My Review: The audiobook was so touching, you feel the emotion with Minka's voice. We look at celebrities are having perfect lives and can do no wrong but Minka shares her past, struggles, mistakes, etc. that all make her who she is today and everything she is doing beyond acting.

Title: Pen Pal

Author: J.T Geissinger

Genre: dark romance, paranormal

How I Read It: kindle unlimited

My Rating: 1 out of 5

Amazon Description: The first letter arrived the day my husband was buried. It was postmarked from the state penitentiary, and contained a single sentence:

I’ll wait forever if I have to.

It was signed by Dante, a man I didn’t know.

Out of simple curiosity, I wrote back to ask him what exactly he was waiting for. His reply?

You.

I told the mystery man he had the wrong girl. He said he didn’t. I said we’d never met, but he said I was wrong.

We went back and forth, exchanging letters every week that grew increasingly more intimate. Then one day, the letters stopped. When I found out why, it was already too late.

Dante was at my doorstep.

And nothing on earth could have prepared me for what happened next.

My Review: DNF, The story is more paranormal than dark romance. I had heard great things about this book but could not get into it and I got lost in the story line.

Title: My Sinful Nights

Author: Lauren Blakely

Genre: romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: Ten years ago, I let the love of my life slip through my fingers when I chose my career over love. It’s my greatest regret, especially since my college sweetheart has all but disappeared. But when my company hires a mysterious woman with a brand new name to handle a critical project, I come face to face with the woman who got away.

And she still takes my breath away.

Immediately I have one mission — win her back. Whatever it takes.

That’s a tall order since the gorgeous, brilliant, tough-as-iron Shannon is trying to escape a dangerous past. But over our sinful nights together, she starts to let me into her heart.

Until the past catches up.

My Review: Book one in a series of 5. A second chance love with a mystery mixed in. Love the story told in multiple points of views. The underlying mystery isn't fully answered in the book but doesn't leave a huge cliffhanger.

Title: My Sinful Desire

Author: Lauren Blakely

Genre: romance

How I Read It:  audiobook

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: I live my life by a few simple rules — let no one in, trust only my family, and don’t ever spend more than three nights with a woman. Those are easy enough to abide by when I meet gorgeous, captivating and absolutely brilliant Sophie Winston. Who wants nothing more than to explore all her sinful desires with me after dark. Desires that put me firmly in control in the bedroom. That works for me — as long as I can keep the secrets I need to protect. Not only the ones about my family, but the ones about how she’s interwoven into my dangerous past. But the night she learns the truth, I’m faced with a stark new choice — let her go or give up control of my heart for the first time ever.

Trouble is, the past is chasing both of us right now and it just caught up.

My Review: Book 2 of series, you don't have to read the first book. A story line that keeps you hooked and a twist at the end you didn't seem coming. Underlying stories left with cliffhangers but main storyline does not.

Title: My Sinful Longing

Author: Lauren Blakely

Genre: romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: Some women are just off-limits. But that doesn’t stop me from wanting Elle Mariano. She’s clever, big-hearted and the sexiest woman I’ve ever met. The thing is, she’s fighting the demons of her past and do I ever know how hard those are to battle. So I try my best to be her shoulder to lean on. Until the night we combust. And one night turns into hot, dirty days, and secret trysts. If it all sounds too good to be true, it is. Because once I learn the secret she’s keeping from me, my entire family’s future turns riskier than I ever imagined. Especially since the bastards who tried to tear my family apart years ago are tailing both of us now.

Our every move…

My Review: Book 3 of series. This series just keeps getting better, more passion, more mystery, more love.

Title: Billionaire Brother's Nanny

Author: Rebel Bloom

Genre: reverse harem

How I Read It: kindle unlimited

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Three billionaire brothers chasing after one nanny...

What could go wrong?

Everything.

The list of problems they bring into my life is even bigger than their bank accounts.

They seem like innocent fathers, wanting to spend a summer in the Hamptons with their kids… but nothing could be further from the truth.

Along with a generous salary, they offer me an arrangement that’s impossible to decline.

I can be with all three of them and take my pick when summer is over.

Griffin, the older brother has dimples to die for. But he’s also the bossiest one. His word is law, and his grasp around my waist is as firm.

Ezekiel knows exactly how to make me feel desired. His buttoned-down shirts are such a turn on, and his possessive touch impossible to resist.

Conrad, Ezekiel’s twin, holds me in his muscular arms with so much love that I can barely contain the warmth in my heart. And then there’s the secret history we share…

There’s no way I’d ever pick just one of these men.

It’s either all three... or none of them.

And it’s obvious I’ll have to go with the second option after finding out that they’ve placed a damn million-dollar bet on me...

My Review: A funny, quick read that left you feeling dirty. Billionaire bad boys wrapped with drama and and humor.

Title: My Best Friend's Triplet Brothers

Author: Rebel Bloom

Genre: reverse harem

How I Read It: kindle unlimited

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Walking into the wrong room and catching one of my best friend’s triplet brothers in the shower was going to cost me EVERYTHING.

Especially since it was her wedding... and I was the maid of honor.

I should have turned around.
Friends never sleep with their friends’ brothers. It’s code.
Instead, Warren gave me pleasure like I’ve never experienced.
Then his brothers joined in on the fun.

Growing up, the triplets always tormented me.
I was the nerdy, awkward girl they teased.
They were arrogant jerks that made my life hell.

Naturally, I wanted nothing to do with them.

But when they touched me, my skin felt like it was on fire.
Every word they whispered in my ear was intoxicating.
I craved them more than I feared the consequences.

Now, it’s only a matter of time until my dark past comes knocking at the door,
and all of my dirty little secrets are revealed.

The Strickland Brothers may have my heart,
but do they love me enough to pick up its broken pieces?
Can I save my friendship and her wedding before it’s too late?

My Review: Hot, smut, passion, with a storyline attached. At times was predictable but over the characters are likeable with romance and personality.

Title: Dirty Little Secret

Author:  Rachael Brownell

Genre: romance

How I Read It: kindle unlimited

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: He’s my brother’s best friend…

Which makes him off limits.
That didn’t stop me from falling in love with him.
For six years we fought against the waves of desire, but the current kept pushing us toward one another.
Then we collided with hurricane force. Our connection… explosive. It felt right, being with Finn. With the first kiss, I gave him my heart. With the first touch, I gave him my body. When I saw the love in his eyes, I handed over my soul.
I should have known it was too good to last, though. The next morning, he was gone, and my heart shattered. I left it on his bedroom floor as I did the walk of shame.
It’s been nine months since I laid eyes on him.
Yes, I’ve been avoiding this moment but I can do this. I can fight my attraction for one day. Even if the moment I see him again, I know that night is going to come rushing back to me, along with the weeks of agony that followed.
Because he still owns every piece of me.

My Review: Forbidden love, friends to lovers. Mixed with drama, heartache, tears, laughs, and love.
