Hey loves. It's time for another monthly book review. In September I got sucked into less reading and more watching Vampire Diaries. I downloaded the Max app (which use to be HBO) and have been binging the series while doing dishes, nightly routines, after Anna goes to bed, etc. There are only so many hours in the day and my reading took the hit, but I am not complaining.

Grab a hot drink and lets review the 6 books I read/listened to last month. Also I am giving away my copy of a devotional, Grace Looks Amazing on you. Read further down for all the details.

Total physical/kindle books: 3

Total audible: 3

Total books for 2022: 101 books

Goal: 100 books 20 audiobooks

Title: Yoga Pant Nation

Author: Laurie Gelman

Genre: chick lit

How I Read It:  ebook

My Rating: 2 out of 5

Amazon Description: From the author of Class Mom and You've Been Volunteered comes a new book on one mom's challenges through parenting and life, keeping her on her toes and perpetually in yoga pants.

Jen Dixon of Overland Park, Kansas―fearless mother of a fifth-grade boy and two thirty-something daughters―is used to juggling a lot, from her mission to become a spin instructor, to stepping in as the most acerbic class mom ever (again), to taking care of her two-year-old granddaughter. But when the PTA president throws her a mandate to raise $10,000 for the fifth-grade class, even unflappable Jen is going to need more than her regular spin class to get her through this final year at William Taft Elementary School.

In the midst of new complications―organizing the class overnight to Topeka, an unexpected spin class fan in the form of her husband’s crazy ex-wife, and trying to navigate her parents’ sudden descent into apparent delusions―Jen hardly has the patience to listen to yet another half-baked idea (come on, ladies, another wrapping paper sale?) from WeFUKCT (We Fundraise Until Kingdom Come Team), her fundraising committee. But if anyone can get elementary parents to pull off the impossible, it’s Jen Dixon.

With her always irreverent and laugh-out-loud humor―boldly holding forth on those things you’re thinking, but would never dare say out loud―Laurie Gelman shines a light on the indignities and hilarities of modern parenting.

My Review: Not my favorite book in the series. Yoga Pant Nation had its funny parts, but didn't completely draw me in. There were weird plots that I felt like did mix well with the theme of the book. I struggled to finish.

Title: Grace Looks Amazing on You

Author: Amy Seiffert

Genre: devotional

How I Read It: physical book

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: What if today is the perfect time to notice God’s grace in one another?

Women are so often weighed down by comparison, anxiety, and fear that the idea that grace could look amazing on them feels unbelievable. But all around us are flashes of grace, shining examples of God’s love.

Amy Seiffert says it’s the everyday moments that Jesus shines through: making time for a friend even when your to-do list is pages long; apologizing to your neighbor when you don’t want to admit you are wrong; opening the Bible when your soul feels hollow and empty.

Making the choice to accept God’s limitless love no matter what and reflecting it back to the world around you―friend, that’s when His grace looks amazing on you.

A perfect gift to affirm and encourage any woman,
Grace Looks Amazing on You is a timeless Christian message packed with personal story and reflection, Scripture, and deep biblical truth. This 100-day devotional will help you change your perspective so you can confidently radiate the grace of Christ.

My Review: This isn't my first time reading the Grace Looks Amazing on You 100 days of Reflecting God's Love. I love Amy's personal stories she shares that connect with different stages of motherhood and are so relatable. Some days she dives a little deeper into a verse to really make you understand it more.

I have read this books twice and I'm ready to pass it on. If you are interested in receiving a copy of Grace Looks Amazing on You, drop a comment that your interested. I will let my kids pick a winner.

Title: Montana Sanctuary

Author: Josie Jade

Genre: suspense romance

How I Read It:  audiobook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Sometimes the worst wounds can’t be seen.

Lucas Everett knows that firsthand. It's why he and his former Navy SEAL brothers created the
Resting Warrior Ranch.

They aren’t doctors, but they can offer the healing freedom of their Montana range. And they specialize in training service and emotional support animals to help sooth even the worst emotional scars.

Usually, soldiers show up at their door. But this time it's Evelyn Taylor—a soldier in a very different kind of war.

She's as skittish as one of the horses Lucas gentles. But he’s learned how to be patient with animals, and he’s more than happy to be patient with this quiet beauty too.

When Evelyn’s past nightmares show up in Montana, she thinks she has to run again, but Lucas isn’t going to let that happen. He’s protected his country against the worst types of threats, and he’ll protect her too.

She’s met the rancher, but now she’s about to meet the
SEAL.

My Review: Small town romance, with a mystery and suspense mixed in. Evelyn is on the run from a abusive ex-boyfriend who has more money than he knows what to do with. By chance she ends up at the ranch Lucas runs for those in need. The main characters were likeable and you could feel their chemistry. The end of the book seemed rushed. A great first in a new series.

Title: Ransom

Author: Laramie Briscoe

Genre: romance

How I Read It:  audiobook

My Rating: 3 out of 5

Amazon Description: A new series from the author of the Moonshine Task Force Series!

Laurel Springs, AL, is about to be hotter than a mid-August thunderstorm.

When the Moonshine Task Force is absorbed into a new entity, Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team (LSERT), new faces come to town, new love is born, old love is found again, and there’s a plethora of drama and romance happening all over the tri-county area. LSERT puts police, firefighters, nurses, doctors, K-9 handlers, and EMT’s all in harm’s way as they work to keep the area safe from any threat.

Emotions run high, passions ignite.

Come with me, back to Laurel Springs, in what's sure to be a wild ride!

Ransom Thompson

For years I’ve wanted two things - to be a member of the Moonshine Task Force and to be the man Stella Kepler can’t live without.

One out of two isn’t bad, or so I tell myself. Being the only K-9 handler for The MTF presents its own share of obstacles, but me and Rambo? We make it work. Life is status quo, until I’m called in to help with what appears to be a hostage situation and Stella is right in the middle of it.

This is my one chance, and I’m not going to blow it.

Stella Kepler

When I’m stuck in an examination room holding a hurt woman and a man with a gun, I do the only thing I can. I sneak out, call 911 and hope help comes quickly. It does.

In the form of Ransom Thompson.

He and I have known each other since we were babies. Our mother’s are friends, our dad’s work together, and we’ve always been friends.

Only, the last few months I’ve started to notice things. How mature he is, how alpha he can be, the chiseled six-pack, and the abundance of ink spreading across his body.

When I offer to cook him dinner for saving me, neither one of us know how that one moment will change the course of the rest of our lives.

My Review: Friends to lovers romance. Random and Stella grew up together, started out as friends, then things evolved into a romance. There was the perfect mix of action without drama.

Title: Throttle Me

Author: Chelle Bliss

Genre: erotica romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: What happens when the good girl falls for the bad boy?

Suzy is a control freak and has her life mapped out. She's content with the status quo, but her plan comes to a screeching halt when he enters her life and turns it upside down.

City gave up on love when his heart was crushed in college, but a chance encounter on a dark road makes him question what he had sworn off forever - a relationship.

A night of passion and lust causes them to question everything. Is the tattooed bad boy her knight in shining armor? Can their relationship survive when a fantasy falls apart and a secret comes out that could change everything?

My Review: Steamy read with a storyline just not smut. Suzy was a relatable female who is an overthinker. City has the bad boy vibe and look but has a kind heart. Love the chemistry and banter between the two.

Title: Moonlit Temptation

Author: Penelope Black

Genre: reverse harem

How I Read It: Arc ebook

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: They say everything happens in threes.

Good luck and misfortune.
I got fired, inherited my late-grandmother's house, and moved across the country all in a weekend.
I thought I would get a reprieve, eager and excited to spend my summer with my cousin.

But no one warned me the rule of three could apply to men.
The charming playboy.
The enigmatic stranger.
The grumpy single dad.

Known collectively as the St. James men. And the most coveted bachelors in all of Rosewood. They run the Rosewood Reapers, an allegedly reformed motorcycle club. I find myself irresistibly drawn to all three of them in a way I can't ignore.
So I don't.

The only problem is, there are more secrets than people in this town. And I fear there's one that could shake our very foundation.

My Review: Penelope does it again. Why choose romance with a cliffhanger that makes me want to jump to when the next book comes out.

Eva moved back to hometown after her grandmothers passing. What she thought was going to be a fun summer with her cousin turned into adventure with the St James men. There is suspense, single dad, nanny, bikers, and more.
