Summer Break Week 3

Hey loves. It is crazy to believe that June is already over. It's time for a summer break week 3 recap.

Monday June 23

I worked for a few hours then came home and the kids were dying to go play in the pool.

We were under a heat advisory with the heat index above 100.

The two of them played outside for a good 2 hours. I blew up these floats that I got and they made up their own games.

It was the perfect afternoon for an iced coffee. My phone and kindle were not a fan of this high heat. I kept going back and forth on devices putting them in the house. I also kept moving from the shade to the sun, and even talked around in the pool.

Austin had a baseball game. I was not happy about it. At 4pm the heat index was 103, which is below the 104 per baseball regulations of not playing with it being too hot. The local school are required to use accuweather's feel real temperatures when determining temps for going outside. (This include below feels reel temps of 20 for outdoor recess in the winter.) At 530 it 105. The coaches made the call to still play because every weather app had a different temp. I don't agree with this decision. These are 9 and 10 year olds playing rec ball, not professional or college athletes.

Either way I still went to his game and rooted him on. The boys dragged from the heat. Unfortunately they also lost. Afterwards the coaches and parents were talking, the field was not set up for their age. Home plate was 3 feet further from the pitcher's mound, making for lots of balls and players getting hit from the pitcher's not used to throwing that far.

Tuesday June 24

Up early and completed my mindset morning outside. At 6am, it was already in the upper 70s. It was going to be another hot day.

After work I made a quick lunch for everyone then Anna and Austin went to the library with me. Anna requested her own library card and was so excited when I told her she could get her own.

The real reason I wanted to go to the library was to pick up a physical book to read while the kids are playing outside and not having to worry about my kindle

We had leftover shredded chicken tacos for dinner then got ready to go to ..

Anna's first gymnastics class. She was so excited she was practicing in the living room before hand.

I had found out earlier in the day while talking with a girlfriend who's daughter was starting for the first time at the same gymnastics place, just a different class, you don't stay and watch your child. There is no where to go in and sit. They barely even said hi, just opened the doors to let the last class out and the new class goes in. We will be finishing our 6 weeks here then probably trying a new place. It just gives me an ick feeling.

I sat in the parking lot in 100 degree temperatures in the car and read. Anna had so much fun and loved it and talked the whole way home about everything they did.

Wednesday June 25

Slow morning at home. The kids had some tablet time while I did work on my laptop from home. After lunch we headed outside. They played in the pool while I did some reading.

Let's talk about this squirrel. He broke my last feeder. He keeps knocking this one down. He must like bird food over the peanuts I feed him.

This was after he knocked the bottom of the feeder off and still kept trying to climb back up. He hands onto the window and peeks in.

Austin had a baseball game. Ella wasn't home to watch Anna so she got to go with me. Don't you love my headband that she insisted on wearing then made me wear.

Don't we all bring a Bible to read at baseball? Anna packed a bag of books to read to keep her busy. Austin's team won 5 to 2.
After watching Austin's game we swapped fields and watch girls softball. It was Ella's age and a few of her friends. Anna had all the questions. I didn't realize how different softball was from baseball and they are all totally different from t-ball. She has a lot to learn.

It was another hot night so after the games the kids went swimming for a little bit, then it was showers and bedtime.

Thursday June 26

These two are still going strong with their sleepovers in their fort. It is hard to tell but Anna is on the ground between the wall and the mattress. (I took down the form this day too)

I worked for a few hours in the morning. Ella's friend came over. Then Austin's friend came over. then...

We made it a Cedar Point day. I didn't have high hopes on the way there with driving through storms, but the weather had cleared up by the time we got there.

This was Austin's friend's first time ever doing Cedar Point. He had only previously rode fair rides. He was so excited and ready for all the fun.

Anna was all happy.

I think the boys had fun

And Anna and Brian too.

Austin's friend wanted to ride a bigger coaster that Austin didn't want to ride. It was a 10 minute wait so he went with Ella and Brian.

It was a long day but a good day. They were all 3 tuckered out in the backseat.

Friday June 27

After a late night we all slept in. I did a grocery order for pick up, the kids played in the pool, and I got some things done around the house.

That evening we went to the Lake Erie Crushers baseball game with our schools PTA. The Crushers are a local minor league team, Austin enjoyed a hot dog, with ketchup all over his face.

As part of the PTA we got to walk the field before the game. As part of the PTA board (I was not a member of the board this past year but I am on the board this upcoming year) the kids got free tickets to the kids zone which is two huge inflatables.

It was hot, there was no shade, my kids weren't interested in the game, there friends left early to go to another party so we ended up leaving early. The kids went swimming when we got home and called it an early evening.

Saturday June 28

I woke up before everyone else, sat outside and got my mindset morning done.

I even went downstairs and got a workout in.

Brian ran to go get bagels and I enjoyed my coffee outside. Before the craziness of the day really began.

Anna had t-ball at 930.

Then we went to the Farmer's Market, Trader Joes, walked Crocker Park, and got a few things at Fresh Thyme. Before going home and relaxing for a little bit. Anna and I curled up on the loveseat and took a nap together. I know this won't happen much longer, so I will take all the cuddle naps while I can. Even if we don't both fit on the loveseat very much.

Next up was a birthday party for my niece.

We ended the evening with more baseball. These fields have sand by the bleachers. Anna played half the game in the sand, the other hand she brought paper and colored pencils to draw.

Austin's last game of the normal season were under the lights. It is such a different vibe with the lights on. Also last time we were at this field they determined the pitchers mound was 3 feet to far back for this age group. It was again so they moved it forward. They ended up winning the game. Then we surprised the kids with pizza.

Sunday June 29

Happy 40th Birthday to me. My girlfriend texted me before church and asked what I was doing now that I was old. (she turned 40 in January) I sent her a picture of me sitting on the back patio, drinking my coffee and listening to the birds with my grandma hobbies.

We went to church then home to clean and prep for a birthday cookout that Brian planned.

Minus seeing my girlfriend in the driveway about 6 months ago we haven't hung out in over 2 years. It was a nice surprise that she showed up with two of her kids. Our kids got along so well and keep asking to get together again.

With my sister also. We have been best friends since we were 3 and she lives 7 houses down the street. Currently we talk pretty much everyday.

For dinner we had tacos with all the fixings and chicken, shrimp and beef. The party was family. After they all left our one neighbor who was home stopped by for a drink and the kids to play. It was a very loving filled birthday.

Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,
