Hey loves. I linking up with Joanne from Slices of Life for Weigh In Wednesday turning it into a Wellness Wednesday. Sharing a wellness life update as well as a walking pad review. Lets dive in.
First Let’s Check In!
Can you believe we’re already more than halfway through March? The first quarter is almost over. It’s the perfect time to pause and reflect—how are you feeling about your health and fitness so far this year? Did you start off the year running and hitting all those goals? Or has it been a slow battle to work towards new routines?
On a scale from 1 to 5:
5 = You’re thriving and crushing your goals!
1 = You’re feeling off track and need some guidance.
Here's My Honest Check-In:
I hate to say this month so far has been a 1. I wish I could say I have been doing great with getting my steps, working out, eating healthy, drinking my water, and just being healthy in general. That would be a total lie. The last two weeks I have been battling a sinus infection, started a new job, still working my other job, and just drained. I am on the struggle bus to get into a new routine, make all ends meet, and make time for me. I haven't pressed play on a workout, and I have done minimal extra anything, including walking.
This morning I had all the intentions of coming home from getting Ella and pressing play at 615, I even drank my pre-workout on my drive. We get home and Brian is awake and talky and wants to discuss vacation, had already started making breakfast and coffee early, so it didn't get done. My goal is to finish this post (because I am slacking in the blog world too) then go press play. As I am writing this I did just an exercise bar, drinking some water, and walking.
I have been doing better with less snacking (mostly because I have stopped buying snacks). Since Monday (yes two days ago) I have finally started to feel better. I made dinner the last two nights and have been better about my water intake. I have been adding electrolytes for flavor again.
Lunches have been on the healthier sides most days. I either have some sort of leftover or I make a "fancy salad" with mixed greens, diced veggies, and a protein of some sort.
Plans for the rest of the month and April
My 40th birthday is 102 days away. The weekend of my birthday I believe we are doing a 5k again. My goal originally was to be the healthiest version of myself by myself, back to a healthy weight, clothes fitting, happy, etc. We are also going to Disney World for my birthday but not until the end of July beginning of August. I need to be able to do all the walking again while pushing a stroller and not feeling like death. This winter for whatever reason has been harsh on me, throw in age, perimenopause and life.
- I need an accountability buddy. (the biggest thing I miss about previously being a Beachbody/Bodi coach was the accountability and community. )
- I am going to commit to working out 4-5 days a week and 10,000 steps 4-5 days, starting TODAY. Each week I hit that goal I can buy something for myself weather it be new shoes, workout clothes, dress clothes, or coffee. I am tracking it in my planner. This weeks goal is 4 workouts and 4 days with 10,000 steps and I can get new shoes (which I really need).
- Water 80oz a day, no excuses
- Dinner- back to meal planning and actually cooking. This has been easier said then done the last few weeks. There has been a lot of throw together lazy crappy food.
- Lunch- salads, shakes, fruit, yogurt.
Walking Pad Review
My set-up most days is I use my kids gymnastic mats to raise up my laptop and I walk while I am working from home. Other times I will wheel it in front of the tv and walk while watching a show. I do have mine plugged into an three prong extension cord so I can be further away from the wall and not worrying as much about kids tripping over the cord.
When not in use it does stand up and lean against a wall next to the fish tank. I forgot to take a picture. It is light weight enough for me to move it and not worry about scratching our floors.
My two negatives:
- I wish I would have measured the height clearance under my couch to be able to slide it under the couch instead of having to stand it up.
- When you turn the walking pad on, and adjust the speed it beeps loudly. There is no sound control, I am afraid the sound would wake up my kids.
Other Notes:
- I walk barefoot but you can wear shoes.
- It is quiet when walking.
- If I am working and walking I will put my apple watch either in my pocket or around my ankle to track my steps.
Best of luck meeting your goals going forward! I love your reward system; hopefully that will be a great motivation!
