40 Lessons I learned before my 40th

Hey loves. Happy belated birthday to me. Yesterday was my 40th birthday. I celebrated it with my family and had a wonderful day.

Each year I usually share random facts about me. This year I decided to switch it up. I am sharing 40 lessons I learned before my 40th. Let's Jump In.

  1. Life isn't perfect
  2. Being a kid is better than being an adult
  3. Make the memories with your kids
  4. Take time to talk to your loved ones
  5. Wear the swimsuit and the shorts.
  6. Give yourself grace
  7. Fresh flowers make a house feel like a home
  8. Don't keep up with the Jones
  9. Have a positive mindset
  10. Life is to short, eat the cake and have a glass of wine
  11. Stay active
  12. Curl up with a good book
  13. It is ok to say No.
  14. Never say never
  15. People change and that is ok.
  16. Nothing is wrong with changing what you drink based on who you are spending time with.
  17. Drinking so much that you feel it the next day is not worth it.
  18. Friends come and go, some of the best ones are only there a season
  19. Reading a book isn't just a physical book, an ebook and audiobook counts too.
  20. Fast food may taste delicious at that exact moment but the way it makes me feel afterwards is not worth it.
  21. It is never too late to start going to church, and/or reading the bible. At 35 was the first time I even started reading the bible, at 38 was the first time I attended church and was baptized and read the whole bible in a year.
  22. My go to drink is water, sometimes flavored with electrolytes.
  23. I could watch Christmas movies all year long,
  24. I could also listen to Christmas music all year long.
  25.  I sometimes wish I was a runner but my body isn't meant for running
  26. Give me weights any day
  27. What works for someone else may not work for you, that is why we are all different.
  28. I have always been a written to do list girl. Give me all the sticky notes, colored pens, and highlighters.
  29. Now I also write down memories or I will forget
  30. I thrive on routine and taking time for myself and Jesus.
  31. Taking care of yourself is the most important thing, from how much sleep you get, to what you put in your body, how and when you move your body, and what you drink.
  32. Don't be afraid to ask for help, it truly takes a village to raise a family. Sometimes that village are friends that are more like family.
  33. Go on dates with your girlfriends, with your significant other, with your kids, and with yourself.
  34. Taking a break, whether it means a vacation, walking away and going for a walk, or just sitting alone for a few minutes it well worth it.
  35. You can never have to many cups or water bottles. Do not let someone tell you otherwise.
  36. I used to be more materialist (I had to have a coach purse, nails done, etc). Life changes and those things are no longer important.
  37. Be grateful for the family you have in your life.
  38. Leave a $20 bill somewhere in your car (not out in the open). You never know when you will need it.
  39. Always be the first to say hello.
  40. Never Assume someone knows your name.
