Christmas Prep

Hey loves. It is hard to believe Christmas is 44 days away. My kids every morning ask Alexa how many days until Christmas. To say they are excited is an understatement. They have already started asking when their Elf friend, Gusgus and his friend Snowflake are coming back, wanting to drive around and look at Christmas lights, decorate our house, etc. The happy memories, the twinkle in my kids eyes, the excitement for Christmas brings my children and me so much joy.

Since I am not allowed to decorate until after Thanksgiving (one I live with a scrooge, two we host Thanksgiving for over 20 people and we don't have the space for 3 trees, a long formal dining room table, and all the things) I try to have as much done and/or prepped before Thanksgivings so we can relax and enjoy the holiday, as well as the crazy schedule that comes along with it. Here are some planning that you can do advance.

  • Elf on the Shelf Calendar
    • The years I am prepared with a calendar or even just a list of ideas, I don't feel so rushed at the last minute.
    • I am thankful I have a teenager who also now helps out and loves the adventures she comes up with.
    • Find your elf too
  • Christmas Cards
    • From getting the pictures taken to picking out what picture you are going to use
    • Having a list of addresses for who you are mailing your cards to
    • Last year we purchased a stamp with our name and address which makes writing addresses quicker when you are not doing the return label by hand also.
    • Buy the stamps early so you are just ready to send
  • Events
    • Add all the events to the calendar you want to do
    • Include kids school events
    • Ask your family what is important to them
    • Remember the traditions you want to keep up, get rid of the ones no on likes.
    • Coordinate family plans
  • Advent Calendars
    • Yes it is the beginning of November, the store already have the chocolate advent calendars our, buy them before they are gone
    • Decide if you want to do an advent study, and which one. This year I am doing Bring on the Merry
    • Advent with my kids. Last year I bought this book and we are doing it again this year.
  • List
    • Start your lists from your kids wish list, to who you have to buy for
  • Wrapping supplies
    • Go through your wrapping supplies and make a list of what you need
  • Plan to Unwind
    • Plan a few days to just relax and unwind. You don't need to be go go go everyday.
What do you do to prep for the Holidays?
