Hey loves. How are you? It has been forever since I done a life lately post. So much is going on. (from a vacation, to surgery, to bikes and more) Let's jump in with some updates. (in random order)
Life has been crazy so far this year. So many things have happened that were not on my 2026 bingo card. I'm sure I am not alone on this. Where do I even begin. (again in random order)
- This year has been rough on sickness in our house. It feels like I had one kid home every Tuesday all year, or throw in a random snow, ice, freeze day.
- With that Austin has had random fevers, strep throat twice, flu b, and a double ear infection. The kid can't watch a break.
- With his double ear infections Austin had to have a high dose of antibiotic injections for 3 days. We saw an ENT and he still had the infections so he said we needed to have surgery to remove the infection and put tubes in his ears. He had the surgery last Friday and did great. The ENT said it is uncommon for a 10 year old to have tube surgery for the first time this old, usually when they do the surgery there isn't a current infection, and the infection was "sludge" and would have never healed on its own.
- Austin and Anna had a great basketball season. I love seeing the growth each year. This was Anna's first time playing and she learned a lot but has to work on her shooting strength. Austin was coming out of his shell and gaining confidence and with that was getting some good shots with points.
- Anna will be starting her first year of girls softball soon. Last year she did tball with Brian as one of the coaches, this year he is not coaching.
- Austin will be starting kid pitch baseball soon with Brian as one of his coaches.
- Work has been crazy busy for me since the middle of February. Our Pastor retired and it put more on my plate. We have a new interim pastor who isn't as hands on which has also been a learning experience. Throw in Holy Week with different pastors and changes at the last minute. I am happy for a calmer week.
- Spring break has been very low key with no plans this year which is unusual. Between me working and Brian working we haven't done anything. Weather permitting we are going to the zoo today, or we will find something else to do with my kids.
- Ella was in her school play for "A Wrinkle in Time". It was not my favorite play or production but she had fun.
- Anna completed her first communion classes and can official "eat the bread"
- We hosted a low key Easter brunch this year and had everyone bring stuff and less stress on us the morning of church, plus two days after Austin's surgery and so much going on.
- Ella is trying out to be a part of the band flag corps for high school. I am not ready to have a high schooler next year.
- Austin will be in the intermediate school next year. We just had to pick a few classes that he wants to do. One being taking Spanish for 4 years and the other being taking band and playing the trumpet.
- Anna decided to take a break from gymnastics. It was turning into a fight every week to go. The reality is she didn't like having a male coach and they kept switching coaches without making parents aware until after the fact. I did put her on two waitlists with girls that hopefully will open up and she can get back into it.
- Anna learned to ride her bike without training wheels. Her training wheels were bent and she was riding at a 45 degree tilt then she would lean the other way. (We tried to straighten out her training wheels and they would rebend as soon as she put weight on them again). Our neighbor saw it and said let's go take them off and teach you to ride a bike. It took two tries and she was riding with no problem. The next day Austin taught her how to kick off to start riding by herself. Now there is no stopping her. She also has the biggest smile and so proud of herself.
I feel like there is so much other stuff going on. Some of which is not my story to share. It is really affecting my kids life, my life, our relationships and more.
How are you doing? Is your life crazy too?
Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,
Feel free to follow along.
XOXO
