Our Week- Summer Break Week 1

Hey loves. We have had a great start to our summer, it was a bit hectic and some unexpected things happened. We did go to the farm down in Kentucky for the last time before Brian's sister moves to California. I will be recapping that trip separate.

Tuesday June 9

Technically this was the last day of school, but two of my kids got out early.

Ella had her 8th grade recognition at 830 am. It was full on commencement feeling where they called up every child to get a certificate.

After her recognition we took some photos and I headed off to 4th grade recognition. Ella went home with her best friend to hang out because she didn't want to go to Austin's recognition.

Austin's 4th grade recognition was at 10am. It was a rush to get from one to the other. They called two classes up at a time, and the principal read a note from the teachers. Then the sang a song.

The students walked the halls as kindergarten through 3rd grade did a clap out since it is their last year at the elementary school.

After the clap out we picked up our 4th grader in their classroom to take them home. Here is Austin with his teacher, Mrs. Piazza.

Austin and I went and picked up Ella and her friend. Ella went home and changed then we all went out to lunch. Ella and her friend were fighting over the front seat.

Ella's boyfriend also went to lunch with us. I picked a local bar and grill so we could sit outside on the patio because it was such a gorgeous day.

After school our neighborhood had a little get together with water balloons and silly string. Anna went in her swimsuit ready to get wet, but only lasted there 10 minutes.

Brian's sister was in town. She drove up from Kentucky for the last time before she moves to California. We hosted a cookout for them with some family and friends. Made for a crazy day with all the end of the year activities, and a cookout. We didn't do our traditional going out for ice cream for dinner. I didn't want to do it earlier in the day without Anna either.

Wednesday June 10

I was so excited to turn off all the alarms and sleep in. I also had off work (minus checking emails from home) I woke up at 7 and found Anna and Austin already awake and dressed watching TV. Ella had a friend spend the night so they were up by 8.

We had a somewhat low key day. Ella's friend ended up spraining her ankle on the trampoline so she hung out on the couch until her mom got off work and could take her to get an Xray. I did a quick grocery shopping trip also.

It was Ella's night at her dads.

Anna and Austin both had baseball games. Brian had a mandatory meeting at church for our call committee (which decides on the new pastor) I took Anna to baseball, Brian dropped Austin off at his baseball and one of the other coaches brought him home.  Anna only played 2 innings, they normally play 3, but it started thundering in the distance and the pool near by closed so the coaches opted to cancel the rest of the game. For Anna's softball they don't keep score, you get like 10 pitches then move to a tee. They do give outs though.

Austin ended up getting MVP of the game. He caught a ball getting a kid out, and also got hit in the back with the ball and got walked. His coaches didn't cancel his game early and he went and had ice cream afterwards.

Thursday June 11

Busy day and I took no photos.

We dropped my van off at the shop to get the air conditioning fixed. Brian dropped me off at work and I ended up working until 330 playing catch up on a few things.

After work Brian and I dropped our motor home off at a guys house who was going to repair all the water damage. (I never mentioned this previously, the whole front bunch above the drivers seats was soft, molded, and destroyed by a leak we didn't know was there. After calling a few places no shops do repairs on season, one of their techs offer to do it as a side job)

I spent the rest of the evening packing. I don't think I have ever waited until the last minute to pack before. Good thing it was only for 2 nights and we were staying with family.

Monday June 15

I got up early to let Ella in the house when her dad dropped her off in the morning. I fell back asleep on the couch and woke up to Brian telling me there was a baby on the patio.

Also how did chippy get up on the bird feeder? His little butt isn't heavy enough to close the trap to stop the food from coming out.

Off to work and first day of vacation Bible School at our church. Our church along with 5 sister churches do a combined VBS and we host it. This years theme was Snowball Mountain. Anna and Austin attended, while Ella volunteered.

There were about 80 kids again this year.

VBS only goes from 9 to 12. I worked the whole time the kids were there then we went home. I took a nap made a quick dinner for Anna then

headed to Austin's baseball game with my dinner of beef jerky. It was a tough game.

Tuesday June 16

Kids went out VBS, I worked for an hour then took Brian to get dental surgery. He had one wisdom tooth that was infected, impacted, and something else. It was causing a lot of pain and needed to be removed. While he was there and already under they decided to do the other side. The other side however the tooth had attached to the jaw bone. It ended up being more of a jaw surgery than just a wisdom tooth removal.

My mom picked up my kids from VBS. Ella helped me get Brian in the house. Mom stayed with Brian while I went and stocked up on soft foods and his meds.

The kids and I gave Brian some quiet time and we went and hung out across the street with friends.

Wednesday June 17

Up early, devotional morning done, quick basement workout done, went outside to do some stretching and had some company.

I made breakfast for myself and my kids and we headed off to VBS. I joked that Mama deer was watching Brian for me, as she leaves me her baby to watch at times too.

After VBS Ella planned a picnic in the park with her boyfriend. She made chocolate covered strawberries, marshmallows, sandwiches, key lime pie and took a game to play. They went to the park behind our house. I could see them through the bushes.

Another crazy baseball evening. Anna was suppose to have a game but it got cancelled due to the threat of heavy rain at start time. Austin's coaches (minus Brian since he was home recovering) opted to play and see how far they would get. It ended up only lightly sprinkling, we didn't get any of the storms that were forecasted. Austin's team even went into overtime for the win.

Thursday June 18

Morning devotional really hit home. "When we are unhappy, we usually blame it on someone or something else. It is rarely occurs to use that we must be responsible for our own joy."

More fun at VBS.

Brian and I went and picked up our motorhome from getting worked on. I started all my cleaning. From wiping down the walls, cleaning all the cubbies and washing all the curtains.

Friday June 19

I got up before my alarm that was set for 6am. Did my morning devotional reading, got my workout done, and started breakfast before anyone else came downstairs a little after 7. We had to leave a little earlier for VBS because Anna had a sleepover at her cousins house and I had to pick her up.

The last day of VBS was a success. The kids had fun. While the kids were in VBS I worked in the office all week catching up on a few things. (Anna is still singing the songs with hand motions)

After VBS we went home and got changed. I took my kids and my niece to Cedar Point for the evening. Brian was still uncomfortable and swollen from having his wisdom teeth/jaw surgery earlier in the week. We were supposed to be meeting friends up there also but they ended up leaving early.

When we got to Cedar Point the old two ran off and I had the younger too. We started with a quick lunch of chicken and fries.

First ride of the day was the train. We don't normally ride it because it takes you from point a to point b and it is hard with the strollers or wagon.

We got our money's worth in ICEE's for the day. It is part of the drink package I have. There are some days we go and it seems like every ICEE machine is down, that was not the case here.

Next ride was the Snoopy train roller coaster for kids. Anna is almost tall enough to go without an adult or someone 14.

Same with the "lady bugs" as Anna calls it. It is really called the beetle bugs and reminds me of a tilt a whirl from back in the day.

I grabbed the kids another ICEE while they rode the bus.

Last ride in the kiddie area was the Balloon Race. It not only spins but it goes up and down too. Austin was looking a little sick afterwards so we took a break. We also had to find rides that Anna and Austin could both ride. Austin is to tall for some of the kids rides, then you have Anna that is to short for some too.

Bathroom break with a "mommy take a picture of me in the tree)

Anna requested if we could sit and watch the Top Thrill 2. This was a first for us too, we usually just watch as we are walking or in other parts of the park, not in the stadium seats.

Some fun with Cadillac cars. They are old school gas powered. Austin didn't want to drive and Anna was too short so I drove with Anna next to me. I have to say pressing the pedal was hard. I had to my left leg because my right knee hurt. Ella said she rode it earlier in the day too and had to use both feet.

We grabbed a pretzel and were waiting for the girls to leave. Then I noticed the Iron Dragon roller coaster, which is boy kids favorite and Anna is tall enough for was down to a 20 minute wait where previously it was over an hour.

After the girls were done and we got off the ride the gondolas were also running. All 3 girls got in line to ride it and meet us at the front of the park. Austin and I walked and stopped for a walking taco.

We had a fun trip, the kids had a long week and Anna fell asleep in the car. She had her pillow from her sleepover that we had never taken out. It made it hard for my neice to get out of the backseat when we dropped her off.
