Hey loves. Sharing the second and final part of our weekend getaway. I shared part 1 yesterday where we took a trip to the Columbus Zoo. Now its time to recap the rest of our weekend.
Saturday August 1The breakfast at the hotel was gross, cold, and limited options so we headed into downtown Dublin and got breakfast from La Chatelaine, a delicious French bistro. Brian and I shared a quiche and another Danish. Ella had the most delicious eclair. Anna and Austin had a chocolate croissant.
We hit the road to the second part of our trip. It stormed most of the drive down to Mason, Ohio. It stopping raining as we were pulling into the parking lot.
Our trip to King's Island. This year we got Gold passes to Cedar Point that includes access to all the Six Flags parks.
We first checked out the Planet Snoopy kids area. Brian, Anna, Austin, and Ella rode a bunch of rides.
I have to say that one thing I loved that Cedar Point doesn't have is this extra sign at the entrance that shows the exact height for the kids to ride, ride alone, and need a supervising companion.
Kings Island has a lot more in between coasters that Anna was tall enough for. Here is one that reminds me of Top Thrill 2, because it goes backwards and forward.
Anna requested to ride this ride where you are on your stomach. She rode it when we were in California at Knotts Berry Farm. Ella and Austin didn't want to ride this time so we watched as Brian went to find a snack.
Up next was the water ride. It was a lot longer than I expected and you got wet from a spitting Snoopy at the end over the ride but it was a lot of fun.
Brian was sad we went without him, so he took the kids again.
Brian ended up taking Ella and Austin to ride some bigger coasters. Anna and I wondered around and rode some rides.
After riding the Great Pumpkin coaster Anna had to get a photo.
Anna and I also did a little shopping about buying her a new shirt that she put on and took off her dress that was wet from random quick rain showers.
Spiny family ride. Ella and Anna went by themselves so they could spin faster. Each barrel had a different "name" Brian, Austin and I were in tequila.

Brian went to grab us a burrito bowl. I took the kids to ride the Carousel. It ended up being perfect timing it started to downpour. Brian ended up running to us with the food and we sat on a beach that was covered and ate.
When the rain slowed down we headed to the car and to our hotel. We stayed at a Springhill Suites by Marriott in Mason. The room was nice minus the bar door to the bathroom which was extremely hard to close. We got to the hotel at 7pm and they had to look for us a room because housekeeping was still there cleaning. Brian had talked to the front desk about how late the bar was open and we were told 1030 or 11. We go down to get a drink before 9 and the bar was already closed.
The beds were more comfortable and actual queen size, even the sleeper sofa, was more like a firm bed.
Anna was excited to get to go swimming before bed.
Sunday August 2
We had breakfast at the hotel, packed up the room and checked out. We ended up changing our plans and heading back to Kings Island for a few hours.
As Gold pass holders we were able to get in 30 minutes early. Unfortunately we didn't realize they only open a select few rides. Brian, Austin, and Ella got in line for an indoor roller coaster while Anna and I walked around.
At 10 when the rides started opening up Anna and I rode a ride at the same time it started raining. We didn't have our coats on and got wet. We headed over to Starbucks for a coffee, warm hot chocolate, and cake pop.
By the time we were done the other 3 caught up to us, they ended up riding 4 roller coasters in that time. We got in line for the new indoor theatre. If you are a Disney fan think Haunted Manson and Toy Story shooting mixed. It was a non scary haunted theatre with flashlights that you shoot the ghosts with.
We did some window shopping, grabbed lunch and headed out. I will say I am disappointed that Kings Island doesn't have any big signs that say Kings Island for photo opps.
The next adventure was another stop at Jungle Jim's. We were there for an hour and a half looking and buying random foods. Then we started heading home.
It was a rough drive home with storms on and off the whole way. We ended up stopping for dinner north of Columbus at a BJ's Brewhouse.
We finally got home a little after 9. It was unloading, starting some laundry, and going to bed for the reality of going back to work in the morning.
