Wet Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday and Happy April 1st, no April Fools here. Unless you count mother nature giving us 2 inches of snow yesterday. Fortunately after today our forecast shows most days in the 50s maybe Spring is really going to come.
This past weekend did not go as planned. I had wanted to surprise the kids and take them to a local Dinosaur exhibit but it was outside and rained all day and turned cold on Saturday. Then Sunday was cold and snowy plus under the snow was thick ice. I also had a rough weekend.

Friday after school we had Chick Fil A for dinner. We tried their fish sandwich which is only available for lent. It was actually pretty good.

The rest of the evening Ella and I had a Girl Scout event, World Friendship Fair. Yes my daughter is the only one who didn't wear her vest. We left her vest and bag sitting at the front door when we left.
At World Friendship Fair the girls learned about Girl Scouts in Australia, made a rain stick, and played some games. They had a lot of fun.

Afterwards I treated Ella to ice cream. Dairy Queen had been advertising their new orange dip cone. Our location didn't have it. I was disappointed but still got ice cream. We ate there (so we didn't have to take any home for Brian and Austin). On the way was this picture. Ella said "That's an old picture from when you were a kid". She said it was a straight face and all serious. I had to explain that this was way way before my time.

Saturday we had a pretty low key day. Brian worked most of the day.  I was in a lot of pain, and couldn't get comfortable. The kids were pretty well behaved and played together. This was the first day in a long time that Austin had his sister to play with him and she loved it.

The kids spent a lot of time riding around the house, playing school, painting, coloring, playing Barbies, and who knows what else. They also spent a lot of time in the basement. For the most part they got along and that was the most important part.
We tried a new pizza place for dinner. We got two pizzas, a salad and wings. I loved the salad was like something you would get at a restaurant and not just a bag thrown in a box. The wings were delicious, my favorite part. The kids liked their cheese pizza. Brian and I were not impressed with the pizza we got. Plus the price was a lot more than what we would normally pay somewhere else.

Sunday morning we woke up to 2 inches of snow, plus a layer of thick ice under it. It was pretty to look at, but I was happy I didn't have to go out in it. Brian had to run out to get pancake mix because he never mentioned we were out and didn't put it on the grocery list. Sunday morning's we have pancakes and I was craving them.

Austin helped his daddy make the pancakes for breakfast. I love that Austin enjoys and wants to help in the kitchen.

Brian also made delicious crispy bacon. I am so thankful he decided to run out and get me pancakes.

After breakfast things went downhill. I started not feeling well, got real hot and light headed. Next thing I know I am hugging the porcelain god again, which I hadn't done in a while. It came out of no where. I spent the rest of the day weak, dizzy, and random tightness in my chest. I spent the day on the couch with Ella taking care of me and Austin. When Brian got home from work he took over taking care of all of us. I went and laid down in bed and slept for about 3 hours. I woke up feeling better today, last night I was still pretty out of it.

Austin played with his train set up stairs while I was resting on the couch during the evening.

Brian surprised Ella and build her a fort in the basement. She loved it and said it was the best thing ever. She said she wants to live down there and sleep down there. I said lets wait until next weekend when she doesn't have school.

Even though our weekend didn't go as planned my kids had a great time. They needed this time to bond and play together. Hope you had a great weekend.

  2. Lol; I think it's hilarious that she thinks you around during horse and buggy time. My son once asked me if they had boats when I was little. My reply "you mean like the Mayflower; yes I am younger than the Mayflower."
