Title: Little Secrets

Author: Jennifer Hiller

Genre: Thriller

How I Read it: ebook from Library

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: All it takes to unravel a life is one little secret...

Marin had the perfect life. Married to her college sweetheart, she owns a chain of upscale hair salons, and Derek runs his own company. They're admired in their community and are a loving family―until their world falls apart the day their son Sebastian is taken.

A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. The FBI search has gone cold. The publicity has faded. She and her husband rarely speak. She hires a P.I. to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding Sebastian, she learns that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman. This discovery sparks Marin back to life. She's lost her son; she's not about to lose her husband, too. Kenzie is an enemy with a
face, which means this is a problem Marin can fix.

Permanently.

My Review: As a mom this was hard to read for the pure fact of the reality behind it. You child can be taken from anywhere at anytime when you least expect it. It is a true fear of mine. At the same time I could not read it fast enough, I had to know what happened. So many twists and turns.

Title: Things I Should Have Said

Author: Jamie Lynn Spears

Genre: Biography

How I Read it: ebook from library

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: You’ve read the headlines, but you don’t know Jamie Lynn Spears. The world first met Jamie Lynn as a child star, when it was her job to perform, both on set and for the press. She spent years escaping into different characters on All That and Zoey 101. But as she grew up, faced a teen pregnancy, raised her daughter on her own, pursued a career, and learned to stand on her own two feet, the real Jamie Lynn started to take center stage– a raw, blemished, and imperfect woman, standing in her own power.

Despite growing up in one of America's most tabloid-famous families, Jamie Lynn has never told her story in her own words. In
Things I Should Have Said, she talks frankly about the highs and lows, sharing what it was like traveling the world as a kid, how she moved into acting and performing herself, what life as a child star took from her, and the life-changing reality of becoming a teen mom. She talks about how she finally found love and how the mistakes she has made have taught her more than anything else. She also shares vulnerably about how the ATV accident that nearly took her daughter's life brought her back to her faith and caused her to reevaluate and redirect her life.

Frank, courageous, and inspiring,
Things I Should Have Said is a portrait of a wife, momma, sister, daughter, actress, and musician doing the best she could to show up for herself and teach her daughters to have the courage to love every part of themselves, too.

My Review: I was never a big Jamie Lynn fan but am a big Britney fan. After reading her book I look at her in a different better light or exactly what she went through. I love how open she was and put her true feelings out there. The book is not about Britney and doesn't share to much about the whole #freebritney that others put out there.

Title: Hook, Line, and Sinker

Author: Tessa Bailey

Genre: Romance

How I Read it: ebook from Library

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: King crab fisherman Fox Thornton has a reputation as a sexy, carefree flirt. Everyone knows he’s a guaranteed good time—in bed and out—and that’s exactly how he prefers it. Until he meets Hannah Bellinger. She’s immune to his charm and looks, but she seems to enjoy his… personality? And wants to be friends? Bizarre. But he likes her too much to risk a fling, so platonic pals it is.

Now, Hannah's in town for work, crashing in Fox’s spare bedroom. She knows he’s a notorious ladies’ man, but they’re definitely just friends. In fact, she's nursing a hopeless crush on a colleague and Fox is just the person to help with her lackluster love life. Armed with a few tips from Westport’s resident Casanova, Hannah sets out to catch her coworker’s eye… yet the more time she spends with Fox, the more she wants him instead. As the line between friendship and flirtation begins to blur, Hannah can't deny she loves everything about Fox, but she refuses to be another notch on his bedpost.

Living with his best friend should have been easy. Except now she’s walking around in a towel, sleeping right across the hall, and Fox is fantasizing about waking up next to her for the rest of his life and… and… man overboard! He’s fallen for her, hook, line, and sinker. Helping her flirt with another guy is pure torture, but maybe if Fox can tackle his inner demons and show Hannah he’s all in, she'll choose him instead?

My Review: A best friends to lover story, my favorite. Cute romance

Title: Stirring Up Fun with Food

Author: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Genre: cookbook

How I Read it: ebook from library

My Rating: 2 out 5

Amazon Description: Why stop with making basic brownies? Why not put them on a stick and decorate them? Why not take boring broccoli and turn it into a yummy cheese muffin instead? Sarah Michelle Gellar learned quickly that to get her kids to be adventurous with food, she had to involve them in preparing it. She wanted that process to be fun and help them develop self-confidence, creative thinking, and even math skills! So Sarah and co-author Gia Russo came up with more than 100 fun food-crafting ideas that take basic food preparation to a surprising new level.

Organized by month, the book offers projects for every occasion and theme, including Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, Shark Week, Halloween, and even a Star Wars Day with licensed Star Wars creations! The possibilities are endless!

My Review: I wasn't impressed, didn't find anything I wanted to make.

Title: Read Between the Lines

Author: Rachel Lacey

Genre: Romance, LGBT

How I Read it: purchased ebook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Books are Rosie Taft’s life. And ever since she took over her mother’s beloved Manhattan bookstore, they’ve become her home too. The only thing missing is her own real-life romance like the ones she loves to read about, and Rosie has an idea of who she might like to sweep her off her feet. She’s struck up a flirty online friendship with lesbian romance author Brie, and what could be more romantic than falling in love with her favorite author?

Jane Breslin works hard to keep her professional and personal lives neatly separated. By day, she works for the family property development business. By night, she puts her steamier side on paper under her pen name: Brie. Jane hasn’t had much luck with her own love life, but her online connection with a loyal reader makes Jane wonder if she could be the one.

When Rosie learns that her bookstore’s lease has been terminated by Jane’s family’s business, romance moves to the back burner. Even though they’re at odds, there’s no denying the sparks that fly every time they’re together. When their online identities are revealed, will Jane be able to write her way to a happy ending, or is Rosie’s heart a closed book?

My Review: Enemy turned lovers.

Title: Your Are A Badass Everyday

My Review: This book potentially could be a 5 out of 5. Since I rented it from the library I read it like a book, and not each chapter a day to help motivate you. It didn't hit like reading it everyday would.

Title: The Ride of a Lifetime

Author: Robert Iger

Genre: biography

How I Read it: audiobook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Robert Iger became CEO of The Walt Disney Company in 2005, during a difficult time. Competition was more intense than ever and technology was changing faster than at any time in the company’s history. His vision came down to three clear ideas: Recommit to the concept that quality matters, embrace technology instead of fighting it, and think bigger—think global—and turn Disney into a stronger brand in international markets.

Today, Disney is the largest, most admired media company in the world, counting Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox among its properties. Its value is nearly five times what it was when Iger took over, and he is recognized as one of the most innovative and successful CEOs of our era.

In
The Ride of a Lifetime, Robert Iger shares the lessons he learned while running Disney and leading its 220,000-plus employees, and he explores the principles that are necessary for true leadership, including:

•
Optimism. Even in the face of difficulty, an optimistic leader will find the path toward the best possible outcome and focus on that, rather than give in to pessimism and blaming.
•
Courage. Leaders have to be willing to take risks and place big bets. Fear of failure destroys creativity.
•
Decisiveness. All decisions, no matter how difficult, can be made on a timely basis. Indecisiveness is both wasteful and destructive to morale.
•
Fairness. Treat people decently, with empathy, and be accessible to them.

This book is about the relentless curiosity that has driven Iger for forty-five years, since the day he started as the lowliest studio grunt at ABC. It’s also about thoughtfulness and respect, and a decency-over-dollars approach that has become the bedrock of every project and partnership Iger pursues, from a deep friendship with Steve Jobs in his final years to an abiding love of the
Star Wars mythology.

“The ideas in this book strike me as universal” Iger writes. “Not just to the aspiring CEOs of the world, but to anyone wanting to feel less fearful, more confidently
themselves, as they navigate their professional and even personal lives.”

My Review: I really enjoyed learning of Robert Iger, former CEO of Disney. The behind the scenes of business and random Disney.

Title: Start

Author: Jon Acuff

Genre: personal development

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Wall Street Journal best-selling author Jon Acuff reveals the steps to getting unstuck and back onto the path of being awesome.

Over the last 100 years, the road to success for most everyone has been divided into five stages that mirror the decades of working life:

The awesome path is more challenging because things like fear only bother you when you do work that matters. The good news is Start gives readers practical, honest and actionable insights to be more awesome, more often.

It's time to punch fear in the face, escape average, and do work that matters.
