Hello Monday Spring Break Recap

Hey loves. Happy Monday. I am excited for the week ahead. Spring break is over, back to somewhat normal schedule as we countdown the weeks to the end of the school year. (we still have 6 weeks). We had some gorgeous weather last week, and had some fun too.

I am linking up with Sarah and Holly for Hello Monday. Let's see what we did this weekend.

Our spring break started on Good Friday. I shared last Monday a recap from Good Friday to Easter. You can catch up here.

Monday

Leftover quiche for breakfast. We normally do some sort of casserole for brunch for Easter (and usually Mother's Day too) this year we did the quiche and it was a hit and so delicious. I will pick a quiche any day over a casserole.

After breakfast we had a low key day. We picked up Ella from her dads and went back home. I had a zoom meeting for my marketing job that I haven't been on in weeks with working my church job, but since the church was closed I went on the zoom. While I was working my kids had electronic time and played.

Per Anna's request they had a charcutier lunch with chicken fries, honey nuggets, tator tots, cantaloupe, strawberries, raspberries, and apples. They ate everything minus the apples while watching Moana 2.

After lunch we headed outside. It was sunny and gorgeous. Austin rode his bike.

Anna rode her bike, chalked, and colored while I did my mindset morning (even though it wasn't morning) aka my devotional, journal, gratitude, question a day, Bible study, etc

We were outside for a while before a quick rain came.

Brian grilled up some burgers and we ate outside per Austin's request. We try to eat outside as much as possible when it is warm enough and there isn't too many bugs.

Austin had baseball, which also means Brian had baseball because he is one of the coaches. Anna kept asking to go for a bike ride. I caved and took her for a walk. I needed to get my steps in and it was gorgeous I don't know why I kept putting it off.

Tuesday

Busy day ahead and no excuses up getting a workout done before anyone else wakes up.

I had work at the church so Ella was home watching her siblings. Brian was home for a little bit then headed to work too. I came home at lunch time to feed the kiddos and worked from home for a little bit.

Last minute change it dinner, had pulled pork tacos with meat from Just Meats that was in the freezer. Really it means I forgot to pull chicken and this thaws quicker.

Anna had her first t-ball practice. She had so much fun and keeps asking when her next practice is. I envision her wearing a skirt of some sort every game and practice. In t-ball they don't have a strict uniform yet.

Wednesday

Another busy day getting a workout done early.

I went to sit down to eat breakfast and out of the corner of my eye I see something moving in the backyard. I was surprised to see a raccoon digging and wondering in the middle of the day.

He walked across the patio, even looked straight at us through the patio door and kept walking.

He was in the woods digging for a while before I went to pick up Ella. We got home and he was still out there so Ella thought he was hungry. She threw him an apple and he ran up a tree. He eventually came down and we haven't seen him since.

We surprised the kids, well Anna and Austin with an overnight to Castaway Bay an indoor water park that is owned by Cedar Point. Ella knew we were going because she was allowed to invite a friend. It is hard having 3 kids, 3 different heights. Anna is 41ish inches, Austin is over 48 inches, and Ella is tall enough for everything but doesn't want to hang with her parents or brother. It's the same when we go to Cedar Point, Ella brings a friend and gets to run off by herself. (we track them and they have to check in)

Tomorrow I will be doing a full review on Castaway Bay.

We opted to leave the hotel for dinner. We had Cameo's pizza and it was so good.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel.

Thursday

I will be sharing all the details of the water park and what we do tomorrow

After we left the hotel we headed to lunch. It was a 10 minute drive to downtown Huron, where Brian works. We ate a little bar and grill that had an outdoor patio on the river. Their special on Thursday's is $6 smash burgers that were so good.
After eating we walked the downtown Huron pier. There is a little beach that the kids played at for a few minutes before we started walking. It was a little chilly with the wind so there was no going in the water.

She is a total vibe and I didn't plan accordingly. I knew the temps were going to be in the upper 70s and I packed Anna a romper, but no sweatshirt or coat. It was chilly with the breeze so Ella's friend gave Anna her shirt to wear.

We walked this pier a few years ago when we had dinner for my birthday out this way.

The view of Cedar Point.

The aftermath of eating on the patio and walking the pier. I got a nice sunburn (that still hurts 5 days later). No I didn't put on sunscreen or pack any because we were going to an indoor water park, not suppose to be outside. This was an impromptu change in plans for me, I guess Brian had this planned all along.

Friday

This is the only picture I took all day. Friday morning I had to go into the office for a few hours and get everything ready for Sunday's church service. (I usually do this on Thursday's but switched days to go out of town). Brian was leaving at noon to go out of town for the weekend for a bachelor party weekend. I got home 10 minutes before he had to leave. A little girl was upset her daddy was leaving and started to cry so I distracted her by asking her what she wanted to play with mommy. We ended up playing 5 games of candy land, then did a drawing challenge. After that she went and played with Austin and I vpn into work to finish what needed to get done for the week.
The rest of the evening was low key. I meal prepped for a few days, made a grocery list, and we had a movie night. Anna picked Descendants 4.

Saturday

Solo parenting morning means I make waffles for breakfast. We needed more waffles in the freezer anyways and we had no milk to have a simple cereal breakfast.

Anna and I dropped Austin off at his baseball practice. The coach said it would be 90 minutes so we ran to the grocery store. She did so good with listening and sticking by me and she got to grab a few things for herself.

We came home, Anna helped me unload the car then I recorded a quick grocery haul video. You can check it out on YouTube.

Austin's practice ended up being 2 hours and not 90 minutes so we sat and the car and Anna colored. It was a bit chilly and we were not dressed to be sitting outside for an extended time.

I spend the rest of the day catching up on stuff around the house, cleaning,

My parents were also out of town this weekend celebrating 45 years. Happy Anniversary!!!

What originally was suppose to be a girls night out, turned into a girls night in with all the kids. The boys played down stairs on their tablets while the girls got mini makeovers. It started with one needed her hair brushed then asked to be braided...

to two wanting braids...

to all 3 girls wanting braids. (I did them all)

Then they all 3 girls and one little boy all got their fingers and toes painted.

Anna has an obsession with Benny the puppy. She wants to see him, hold him, play with him all the time.

We had a good evening and we were home around 9.

Sunday

I woke up to a freezing cold house. The temps outside were down in the upper 30's and Brian turned off the heat earlier in the week and never told anyone. I woke up to the house being 61 degrees. Not the cold wake up I wanted.

First time I have taken the kids to church by myself. We actually were early. Austin drew on his drawing pad during the service. Anna went to the nursery

The little dancer came out for the last song to dance and play instruments.

After Sunday school we had a low key day at home. The kids cleaned their rooms and played. Brian came home and did some yard work. We had a nice ending to our Spring Break.

  2. Busy weekend! We took our kids to Cedar Point a few summers ago, because my husband grew up near Toledo so he went often. We did not do the water park but maybe we should have.
