Cruise and California Vacation 2026 Day 5 Puerto Vallarta

Hey loves. I am jumping back in and sharing all about our cruise to the Mexican Rivera we did with Norwegian back in March.

Monday March 3 Puerto Vallarta

Our first stop was in Puerto Vallarta. This was a few days after the Cartel bombings happened their. Our cruise was the first cruise that went back to Puerto Vallarta and the only cruise ship that was in port that day. We had decided we weren't going to venture too far from port.

This is the view looking out our stateroom window. Armed Military. Brian had seen a lot more military personnel when the ship arrived. There is a military base next to the dock. I don't know if it was comforting that there was a military presence or made me uncomfortable because they were there.
We also watched them load and unload food, garbage, weight boxing bags, and more.

We slept in some, then headed up for a sit down breakfast. Then walked around the outside decks and checked out the views.

On the military base were two helicopters.

Mexico is not always hot and sunny. At least not in March. It was only 59 and too cold to enjoy being by the pool.

After breakfast Austin started complaining that he wasn't feeling well. We gave him some medicine and let him rest for a little bit. Brian, Anna and Ella decided to get off the ship while I stayed back with Austin. They didn't go far. At the port was a little shopping tent that they checked out but didn't' buy anything. To get anywhere else you had to take a taxi, nothing was within walking distance. So they just came back on the ship. (Our friends did the same thing, the mom wasn't feeling well but hers was due to cross contaminated food, she is allergic to meat protein)

The rest of the day we really just relaxed around the ship. Unfortunately the kids club was not open while the ship was at port, and neither are any of the stores. There were naps, TV time, sitting outside enjoying fresh air.

The island looks gorgeous and maybe we will be able to visit there again.

We had dinner at a sit down restaurant again. I will say it was a struggle to find chicken fingers anywhere on the ship but we always found something my kids would at least try, steak was always a favorite. Dinner is never complete without dessert.

After dinner the kids went to the kids club and the adults went to a show.
