Not Just A Mom Cleaning Hacks

Hey loves. I hope you had a wonderful relaxing Easter yesterday. We saw the Easter bunny on Saturday and spent time with my whole extended family like over 20 people who we haven't seen since before Covid. On Sunday we went to church, came home had an Easter egg hunt with the kids, and had a nice early dinner with the regular 15 of us, yes still a lot. Now I am ready to relax for a week. My kids are on Spring Break so there won't be much relaxing. We will have fun though

It's the second Monday of the month which means it's time for Not Just A Mom link up with these amazing ladies: DaraJenJoannaLauren, and Sarah.

This month its Favorite Cleaning Hacks

April showers bring May flowers and hopefully warmer weather. Along with that I get the urge to start spring cleaning. Are you the same? The windows have been closed most of the winter with just random hours they get popped open. Time to get rid of the dust and dirt and fingerprints.

I use to be the girl that had to have all the cleaning products and something different for every surface. Then I bought stuff that was hyped up on social media and I didn't like it. I am now all about simplifying and using products that are safe for the environment and for my kids to help clean with too.

I recently have switched most of our cleaning products over to Basic H2 All Purpose Cleaner. It is Non-toxic and biodegradable. It comes as a concentrate that can make 64 gallons or more depending on what you are cleaning. I have 3 different bottles that have different mixtures for different surfaces. Windows, All Purpose, and Degreaser. In two of our bathrooms are also spray bottles under the sink ready to clean. I have been using it for a couple of months and I am loving it. There isn't much a fragrance to it either so you could always add some essentials oils to it.

Here are a few of my favorite cleaning hacks

  • Clean the bathroom before you take a shower. You are already in the bathroom why not clean it then clean yourself. I will clean my kids bathroom while my youngest is playing in the tub. I have to be in the bathroom with her anyways why not be productive.
  • Clean the kitchen once, while putting away dinner make your lunches, prep water bottles, etc. Then clean the kitchen and set the dishwasher to clean while you sleep.
  • Instead of using fragrance sprays, I use baking soda to remove odors and have diffusers around the house.
  • I found this scour off and I can't say enough good things about it. Here is a before picture of the tray in our air fryer. I have tried numerous times to get it clean and have had no luck. Our last air fryer was black with burnt on oil and food that I was unable to get off.

I used the scour off with just a sponge and a little elbow grease and it now looks brand new.

  • Put on an audiobook or podcast while cleaning, doing dishes, folding laundry, etc. Helps to pass the time.

  2. Ohhhh I am researching all the non-toxic brands right now too. I am currently using a homemade vinegar-based spray as my all-purpose spray and I honestly love it. Have you heard of Branch Basics? I keep getting their ads on my instagram and I am thiiiiiiiiiiis close to buying the starter kit. It sounds very similar to yours-- a concentrate that you add a certain amount of water to depending on which cleaning spray you're using. I'll look up Basic H2 too!

    1. I heard Branch Basics is one of those false green companies, but I could be wrong.

  3. I always clean the shower while I'm in it and it's the last stop on my bathroom cleaning list and we always clean down the kitchen after dinner and run the dishwasher while we're sleeping. I love listening to audiobooks while cleaning!

  4. My kids are having less baths than they used to, but I always used to fold laundry while they were in there, and clean the sinks. It's a great use of time.

  5. It sounds like you had a lovely Easter.
I am the same when it gets to this time of year. When the sun shines I have the motivation to clean.
Great tips! I like to play music while I'm cleaning, a little bit of dancing and singing makes the chores a lot easier. x

  6. Great tips! Over the years I've found that all the specialized cleaning products for specific things are still not as effective as the old fashioned simple things. Many of which are safer anyway.
