Lets Look Top Comforts in Life

Hey loves. How is your week going? My kids had off on Monday for a professional development day and I can't tell you what day it is. Last week I was off too with Halloween in the middle of the week. Maybe after Christmas things will slow down.

In February I shared What's in Your Medicine Cabinet

This month we are sharing our Top Comforts in Life. (opps I missed the memo we swamped prompts for this month.)

Life can be hard. From growing up, having kids, not connecting with friends and/or family, how 2020 and the pandemic effected all of us. We all have our highs and lows. Sometimes we just need to embrace the season we are in and embrace what currently have.

Here are my top 4 comforts in my life right now. If you would have asked me this a year ago, heck even two months ago my answers would probably have been different.

1- Me Time- This is my time that I intentionally take each day for me. It isn't always first thing in the morning, it isn't always quiet (the other day Anna was singing Halloween songs at the top of her lungs while I was trying to listen to my bible app), it doesn't happen in the same order, and in reality it doesn't happen everyday, weekend are the hardest.

  • write down in a gratitude journal 3 things I am grateful for
  • read a page and answer the questions in the devotional Love is the Point by Alexa and Carlos PenaVega
  • Q&A a day for moms
  • physical read my bible while the bible app read it to me followed by watching the Bible recap on Youtube.
  • Journal- this month I am doing 10 things I am grateful for each day, and 1 person I am grateful for as well as whatever else inspires me.
  • advent bible study with Proverbs 31
  • Moving my body, not necessarily a workout could be just some stretching, Pilates, hoping on my bike, and/or a walk.
  • End of the night I have been reading Near in the Night by Emily Ley. and taking a few minutes to pray.

2- Music- singing and playing music I enjoy. I may not always know the words or hit the notes right but who cares. Right now is a lot of Christmas music, Carrie Underwood, Britney Spears, and Shinedown. Lets not forget dancing around the house like a fool with my kids.

3- Reading- I enjoy curling up with a book and getting lost in a story.

4- Being in the kitchen- It may be time consuming, and usually messy but making sourdough bread and other recipes for my family and loves ones is very relaxing to me.
