Hello Monday

Hey friends. How was your weekend? I wanted a more low key weekend after a few busy weekends, and a busy week ahead. I am happy to say I got it. I am linking up with Sarah and Holly for Hello Monday and sharing my weekend recap.

Friday

Friday morning I signed up to volunteer at Anna's class fun run. It is the biggest fundraiser of the year and the kids get to just run around a circle. They made it fun with a dj and different songs. We hopped, skipped, ran, walk backwards, did the chicken dance, etc. I was one of the few parents that actually did it all with the kids and not just stand around.

I had tried to sign up for Austin's class also but his filled up so quick. I was able to see him for a second on his way to lunch.

Friday evening was a rainy relaxing evening at home. We were getting hit by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene which just brought us moderate rain.

Saturday

A slow start to the morning. It wasn't suppose to rain until later in the afternoon then around 915 the flood gates opened up and it down-poured.  They don't cancel unless it is lightening in the fall. (it is different in the spring they cancel if there is to much rain they don't want the field destroyed because they hold nationals over Memorial Day weekend.) By 11 it was just sprinkling and then stopped just in time for Anna's soccer game. I bribed her with a surprise if she played, ran, didn't do yoga, listened, etc. She would get a surprise later. And she listened and even scored a point.

After soccer we went home and grabbed lunch. Then went shopping for Ella's birthday gift. We stopped in Burlington to see if they had anything cute for a teenager and didn't find anything. Anna found a few things that we took pictures of for her Christmas list.

We went to Best Buy to get Ella a tv for her birthday. I never realized neither of my kids had ever been in a Best Buy before. They were blown away by the selection of tvs and the sizes. Austin also loved being able to see all the games they have for a Nintendo Switch, of which he wants.

Brian had to take the log splitter to his aunts to cut wood at her house so he drove the truck in the backyard to hook it up. Then our neighbor came over to grab wood that has been sitting in our yard for over a year when we had 8 trees cut down last year. He drove his Jeep and trailer in the backyard too. Anna looks out the window and said "mom there is a lot of cars in the backyard". Little by little we are getting rid of and/or chopping up all the trees.

Saturday night was the Ohio State football game against Michigan State. We headed to our neighbors house to  enjoy some snacks and drinks and watch the game while the kids played. It was a late night with us not getting home until around 11.

Sunday

Why do my kids wake up earlier than they need to on school days on the weekend. Anna and Austin were up before 6am. We made they at least lay back down until 7.

We had church and the first welcome back to Sunday school project. After the service the kids got to paint rocks that will be around the new outdoor pavilion that is almost finished being built.

After church we headed home for lunch. The kids took showers, straightened up the house, got their bookbags and clothes ready for the week. Then they took a nap. Knowing it was a late night and super early morning and tonight we will be getting home right at bedtime we planned accordingly and got a lot done in advance.

The Cleveland Browns played at 430. We headed to our neighbors house for dinner and to watch the game. It seems to be our new weekend plans is watching games together while the kids play. I love it.

How was your weekend?

  1. Sounds like a fun weekend. The hurricane hit our area in SC directly, but our neighbors have been checking for us and our house and property were not damaged. No power or internet but that has finally come on today. We are in England still so missed it which is both good and also a little hard. The nearby mountain towns are devastated and it's heartbreaking to see the videos of the damage. We travel to my mother-in-law's on I-40 which has been partly washed away so not sure what the work around will be. We are anxious to see how things look. Some neighborhoods in our area are still without power and we know gas is scarce and some places are cash only because of the power outages. Hope you have a good week! I love the painted rocks and want to do that with my grands next time they visit and leave them around the neighborhood in spots where people walk.
