Friday Favorites

Hey Friends Happy Friday. We are over here enjoying our last full week we are home before back to school. The next two weeks we are away on vacation (not that whole time) then we start back to school right after Labor Day.

Which parent are you? Last year I was the mom crying having a Kindergartner, this year I am ready for her to go back.

Whats Up Wednesday

Hey Friends. Happy Wednesday. I can't believe July is already coming to an end. We are counting down the days of summer, not because we want it to end but because we have a fun vacation planned the week before school starts. We still have so much to do on our bucket list, my butt better get into gear and tell this rain to go away.

Today I am linking up with Shay and Erika with How We...Wednesday.

In June we discussed: How We Plan Our Summer Vacation

Favorite Podcasts

If you know me I am a podcast junkie. I barely listen to the radio in the car anymore, it is usually a podcast. Ella even told me the other day "Mom I want to be one of those people you listen to in the car, a podcast person" It was so cute and random.

Here are my top podcasts broken down into categories:

What's Up Wednesday

Hey friends. Happy Wednesday. Where did June go? I swear yesterday was Memorial day, now this week is the end of the month, plus my birthday is Friday. Growing up it has always felt like whenever my birthday came, in a blink of an eye summer was over. We are counting down until our Disney vacation which is the last big bang of summer. It is exciting and sad all at the same time.

It's time for What's Up Wednesday. I'm linking up today with ShaySheaffer, and Mel. Talking about What's Been Up for the past month.

~ What I Am Reminiscing About ~

For my quarter life crisis I got my nose pierced. It lasted less than a year than I got pregnant with Aubriella. I became allergic to all jewerly including my wedding rings.

Two years ago this was the best shape I had been in probably since high school. I want to get back to that. I had so much more energy, and confidence.

Also two years ago Austin had his heart tests done. Thankfully he has made a full recovery.

~ What I Am Loving ~

My girlfriend had her baby 2 and a half weeks ago. We finally got to meet her yesterday. Austin was a awesome little daddy. He held her, fed her for 30 seconds than said she was done, burped her, and laid there and stared at her while she slept. He is going to possibly be an awesome big brother one day.

~ What We Have Been Up To ~

Took the kids to Touch a Truck. So much fun.

Aubriella had her last day of Kindergarten. She is officially going into 1st grade.

Moana is here, everyday.

I became a mini-van mom and I love it.

Kids have spent lots of time outside and in the pool. We even upgraded to a bigger pool (not pictured)

Happy Father's Day

Had fun at Cedar Point

Plus a fun day at the zoo which started with donuts for the kids.

Had a play date. First official photo of all 6 kids.

~ What I'm Dreading ~

Ella is going on vacation with her dad for a week. It is going to be so quite and lonely without her. Austin will ask for her a million times. It is the sweetest thing.

Ella has to have a dental procedure done towards the end of July. They have to put her to sleep. I am not looking forward to it.

~ What I Am Working On ~

Little by little working on organizing our basement so we can paint, carpet, and turn it into a play room, workout area, and entertainment room.

~ What I'm Excited About ~

Lots more trips to the zoo and we have started our countdown to Disney.

~ What I Am Watching ~

I thought girls were full of drama, boy was I wrong. This season of the Bachelorette has a lot of it. So far I like Colton, but his past with Tia rubs me the wrong way. I also like Garrett the minivan guy. Who is your favorite?

I have this on my DVR to watch, I hope it is good. Anyone watch it yet?

~ What I Am Reading ~

Maybe one day I will finish these two. You can see a full recap of what I have read recently HERE.

~ What Am I Listening To ~

I found a new Disney Podcast I am loving. Be Our Guest has some great listener questions answered. I also still love The Mouse and More podcast and Mousechat.

~ What I Am Doing This Weekend ~

It is my birthday weekend (my birthday is Friday) but we don't really have any plans. Just spending time with my kids.

~ What I Am Looking Forward to Next Month ~

Austin turns 3. OMG where has the time gone. I have decided we are not having a big birthday for him this year. But we will have a bunch of smaller one.

How We: Plan Our Summer Vacation

Today I am linking up with Shay and Erika with How We...Wednesday.

In January we discussed New Years Goals and Resolutions.
In February we talked about Taking Care of Ourselves
(yeah I missed a few months)

Today we are talking about How We Plan Our Summer Vacation.

I have always loved traveling. I grew up going on family vacations with my parents usually by motor home, other times we rented houses, condos, and stayed in hotels. I always dreamed of traveling the United States and the world so much that I decided to become a travel agent in hopes of planning wonderful vacations for others as well. Unfortunately the company I worked for had unrealistic expectations, with no assistance and things didn't work out. I still plan my own vacations and dream of many more.

Here are some tips and insists into how our family currently plans our summer vacations:

last year at Mackinaw Island

1- Agree on a Time and Taking Time Off
This is an easy one for me since I am a stay at home mom. Brian is self employed and able to adjust his schedule as needed and if he has a closing or inspection that needs done while we are gone he has partners to help him out as well. Since I have shared parenting of Aubriella I discuss possible dates for our vacation with her father so they don't conflict with anything he has planned. So far this has never been an issue.

Disney World Adult only vacation this past April

2- Destination
With our being kids so young still (2 and 6) Brian and I decide where we are going to go. We have ideas where we want to visit, most places with kids, some without. We look at it realistically what there is to do with kids our ages, out timeline, price.... Once our kids get older we will take their ideas into consideration. Right now if we ask Ella where she wants to go it is either Disney World, or back to Michigan to see her cousin named Ella. We are planning Washington D.C. and more educational vacations once they get older to be able to understand and enjoy it.

3- Budget/Save
We are always putting money away for vacations and an emergency fund. How much we have saved is a huge factor on our vacation. I would love to do a Disney Cruise but know that isn't currently in our budget. We also put all our change in our Disney Vacation Fund container that we made a few years ago. I will roll it all and cash it in before our vacation to use for souvenirs. We don't pay for our vacations by credit card. The kids also only get so much spending money the whole trip, usually they have birthday money or Christmas money that they use.

Disney 2014 without kids

4- Prepare
Research, research, research. No matter where we are going I always have some kind of plan in mind. I come up with ideas of places to eat, what to do, where to go, etc. Brian is also very involved in coming up with ideas. For this upcoming Disney trip I read an updated Disney with kids book since so much changes so often and different ages and different heights mean different things we can and can't do.

Disney for Ella's 5th birthday left Austin at home 2016

5- How Far in Advance
Sometimes we plan spur of the moment as in a few months in advance other times we plan a year in advance. Our vacation for this summer is already booked and we have already started talking about where we want to go next year. When we went on our mini vacation with the kids to Pittsburgh over Spring Break, we literally booked the hotel the night before and decided when we woke up at the hotel what we were doing that day, but had ideas in our head.

Bucket List (random order)
- Disney Cruise
- Alaska
- Las Vegas
- Niagara Falls
- Nashville
- New Orleans
- Florida (not Disney)
- Caribbean Cruise
- Hawaii
- Mexico
- Punta Cana
- Washington DC

What is on your vacation Bucket List?
