10 Tips to Get Organized for Back to School

It is hard to believe that back to school is coming so quick. We start next week and many kids are already in school. It can be easy to get overwhelmed with so much to get done and things to buy. Not just for you, but also for your kids. I have some tips to help you get organized for less stressful back to school. If you already started school it isn't to late to make some changes around the house either. There is no time better than the present to switch up routines and get organized.

Family Command Center

Hey friends. Do you have a family command center in your house? I believe they are so essential to minimize clutter, keep things organized, and helps with day to day routines. Since moving into our new to us house almost 3 years ago we have had a command center somewhere in the house. At one time it was all in the kitchen/dining room. Now it is in our office. It is the home base for all the important paperwork and to know what is going on. Previously papers would be thrown on the table or the island, left in bookbags, and occasionally get lost.

Lets Look Pantry Edition

Hey friends. Since being gone most of last week and coming home to tornado clean-up I feel like I am playing catch up on getting stuff today. I planned on going grocery shopping on Monday then my car decided it wasn't going to start again. I ended up going shopping yesterday.

I am linking up with Erika and Shay today for this month's Let Look.

In January we looked at How we clean out closet
In February we looked at Little Things We Do Every Single Day
In March we looked at Our Grocery Carts
In April we looked at Our Daily Quiet Prayer Time
In June we looked at our Summer Schedules
In July we looked at Podcasts and Shows We Binge

This month we are looking at What's In My Pantry.

Staying Organized in a Busy Season

Hey friends. It is Maycember. Have you heard the phrase before? It is the craziness time of the year minus the gifts and lights of December and no cute Hallmark movies to make it all better. For the next two months there is as least one thing on the calendar each day, if not numerous things. This is the first year that it is like "wow omg we have a lot going on". With 3 kids, end of the year activities, field trips, tests, school projects, concerts, sports, holidays (memorial day, mother's day, Cinco De Mayo), birthdays, graduations, regular schedules, summer school (ours starts the week after school gets out), safety town, and more. Let's not forget spring cleaning, yard work, and house projects that are never ending. In our house thrown in some extra kids I am watching and Brian has to go out of town for a week for work. We have a lot going on. I could sit here and stress about it or I can get organized and prepared for the craziness of the season. Let's get organized and remember this is just a season.

Things I Do At the Beginning of Every Month

Hey love. September is only a few days away. I am preparing for the new month with new schedules and routines with the kids back in school. I always feel like September is like a new year. A fresh start with so many new opportunities. I have XXX things that I do at the beginning of every month to help start each month on the best foot possible to do all the things.

All Things Planner & Random Organizing

Hey loves. It is hard to believe that my kids start school next week. Where did the summer go? We are partially prepared with all our back to school supplies, ideas for packing lunches, and some new clothes.

Are you ever really 100% ready for back to school?

Declutter Your Home

You would think that when we moved only a year ago I would have purged and decluttered before we moved in. That only happened a little. Now that we have a bigger house I feel like we have collected a lot more stuff that we don't use. Are you in the same boat? Items sitting around collecting dust, overflowing book shelves, clothes that don't fit, toys that aren't played with, etc. Especially after the holidays and more stuff is brought into the house.

Lets Look Organizing a Busy Family

Hey loves. Happy Wednesday. It has been another crazy week. I am ready for a vacation and a day to just sit home and relax, maybe that will fit on the schedule next week. Life and three kids going in different directions. Yesterday I joked that I had taxi written on my forehead with driving around. I was either at my computer doing hours for my cosmetology license or driving for the girls somewhere. I know it is just going to get worse.

This going along with todays topic for Let's Look with Erika and Shay. Today we are looking at how we schedule/organize a busy family. I am sharing what I currently do as a mom of three with my kids ages 3, 7, and 11. I know this is going to change a lot when they get older and are doing more activities.

Staying Organized- Family Calendars

Hey loves. My kids go back to school tomorrow. I don't know who is more excited them or me. Along with going back to school is a crazy schedule. Three kids at three different schools with different schedules, plus sports, PTA, and everything else. I need to be organized. I am a pen to paper girl, but we also keep a digital calendar that Brian and I share with everyone's schedules. I am loving my Happy Planner. I had one a few years ago then got away from it and bought other planners and always end up going back to the Happy Planner. Plus they have released Disney editions.

Organizing in the New Year

Hey loves. Happy Wednesday. It is a new year, kids are finally back in school, Brian is back to working out of the house and things are starting to feel back to normal-ish. I am slowing getting into a new routine, and organizing the house. Along with that getting myself organized.  Let's look in how I am organizing my life this year. I am linking up with Shay and Erika for their monthly Lets Look series

Simple Steps For Organizing Your Fridge

The New Year is upon us which brings new goals and time to clean and organize our refrigerators. The holiday's get the best of us and there are a lot of sweets and junk that need to go. I am getting back to a healthy lifestyle and living intentional. Its time to get this fridge organized. While I am organizing it is the best time to clean it as well.

There are so many beautiful fridges you can find while searching on Pinterst that I dream of one day having. I am not a huge fan of the fridge we have, it came with our house and isn't in the budget to get a new one. Until we get a new fridge I will manage and do the best that I can.

FRIDGE
BEFORE

I hate to admit this isn't that horrible, it has been a lot worse. (Sorry I know my lighting sucks.) With 2 kids in and out of the fridge, moving stuff, leftovers that never get eaten, extra milk, ... it can really be jam packed.

Lets Get Started:

1- Start with your doors. When they are finished it really makes you feel like you accomplish something and gives you momentum to keep going. Work top to bottom. Take everything out. Wipe down each shelf. Before you put everything back in check expiration dates, how much is left, and if you really will eat it. Try to group like foods together.
In our fridge all dressings are the bottom shelf, pickles and relish are second up, jelly and mayo, then the top is stick butter, lemon and lime juice and baking soda. On the other side we have the milk on the bottom (regular and almond), OJ and other condiments (hot sauce and ketcup), then the top shelf is the chocolate stash.

2- Start on your main section. Again go top to bottom, take everything out, check expiration dates and wipe down shelves.Have a game plan where you want to store what.
The easiest section is the bottom drawers, most your fresh fruits and veggies will go in the drawers. We have a middle drawer that holds all our cheese and lunch meats. Our bottom shelf under the middle drawer is Aubriella's lunch section. I ended up getting a clear plastic storage box and put all her lunch snacks in there. Also on the bottom is Brian's beer, our water pitcher and any extra milk/juice/etc that won't fit on the door.
My next shelf up is now for prepped fruits and veggies. It is at eye level, so the first thing I see when I open the fridge. The top shelf is our eggs, butter, and leftovers. I use to keep the prepped produce on the top, but would end up forgetting about them, they would get shoved to the back and at times freeze.

This picture was taken before I actually went grocery shopping but everything has a space, you can see where everything is, and there is more organization.

Freezer
Before

I hate my freezer. I would never recommend or buy a bottom freezer with a drawer. For our family it is the hardest to keep organized. I lose food all the time, you grab one thing and it shifts everything else. I have not figured out a way to not have to dig to find something. But again I do the best that I can with what I have.

1- Remove everything from the freezer, check to see if anything is expired. Wipe down shelf and bottom. I personally go through and write an inventory list for the meats we have on hand to prevent having to dig to see whats in our Mary Poppins freezer.

2- Plan out where everything is going to go. Below are the after pictures and I will explain how I stay somewhat organized.

AFTER

This is the bottom section of our freezer. Everything pretty much is tossed in there. On the left side is all our meats and the box of cookies we bought from Aubriella's school. On the right side towards the front is all our frozen 1/2 banana's that I use for my shakes. The back section is frozen fruit, veggies. and an ice pack.

Here is the top drawer of our freezer. To the left is our ice cubes. (the freezer has an ice cube maker that isn't hooked up, I don't even know if it works). On the right is odds and ends. Frozen waffles, tator tots, French bread pizza... This is the best I have figured out to organize our freezer. If you have any tips please leave a message in the comments or email me.

I hope these Simple Steps help you to organize your Fridge.
