Summer's Half Over - Summer Update

Hey loves. How is it already the middle of July? My kids go back to school in one month. This summer and year has already flown by. I know this next month will also fly. We are trying to get as much fun as we can before school starts. Fall Ball is also starting back up, my oldest is running a program at the middle school so she has random days she will be at school, and who knows what else.

Summer has not gone as planned, but we are making the most of it.

Summer Goals 2025

Hey loves. June is flying by. We are over here in summer mode finally. This is our first week with no big plans, (last week we had vacation Bible School). We are working on new schedules. We already came up with our Summer Bucket List. I normally make monthly goals, instead I am trying a season goal.

Summer Bucket List

Hey loves. It is officially summer. My kids and I sat down and made our summer bucket list, of all the things we want to do. I wonder how many we will check off this year.

Summer Fun Activities Booklet for Kids

Hey loves. We are counting down the days until summer. Most of the other schools around us are already on summer break. Mother Nature finally decided to give us Ohioans warmer weather.

As much as I love having my kids home and have a lot of fun activities planned already, I am not ready for the "I'm bored" , " Can I have more time on my tablet", "It's to hot" and needing to keep my kids entertained the random days they have to go into the office with me. This year I thought it would be fun for the kids and my sanity to have activities booklets for them to do. There is so much to do in their booklets and I print extra copies of the activities they like the best. The result 60+ pages of different activities for your kids of all ages to enjoy.

Kids Summer Must Haves

Hey loves. We are counting down the days until summer break. It will be here before we know it. We go until the second week of June so we are late compared to a lot of schools. I have started planning all the things, from busy books to schedules, activities, items we need to stock up on and more. This will be our first summer with me working out of the house (and at home). Keeping my kids entertained is going to be essential for sanity and productivity. (and I don't mean just giving them electronics all day everyday).

What We Really Did All Summer

Hey friends. Do you also feel like summer flew by in a blink of an eye? Ours was a wonderful mix of busy and lazy. We didn't have a big vacation, just did more smaller things.

I mentally look back and think we didn't do enough, we should have done a big vacation, we didn't check everything off our bucket list. Then I started thinking about all the things we did do, some of which wasn't on our bucket list. I asked my kids if they had a good summer and they said yes. Even though they are not all 100% excited to go back to school. (welcome to have a teenager)

It is all about the memories of what we did do, and not dissecting what we didn't do or could have done differently. (picture overload)

Bored Jar Summer Edition

Hey friends. School is out. Days of the kids being awake from sun up to sun down. Who else is dreading the kids starting with "I'm Bored" or "there is nothing to do" when you know there are hundreds of toys and things for your kids to do to entertain themselves? If you answered yes I have a solution to help you. A Bored Jar.

Our Summer Schedule

Hey friends. Summer is upon us. This summer I already know is going to be hectic, fly by the wind in our pants. I say all this as we are still going to try and have a schedule with routine for our family and lots of fun.

If you ask my 8 year old, summer means staying up all night, sleeping in everyday, watching as much TV as he wants, and unlimited Roblox and Xbox. I guess that is the dream life of a 8 year old. But that is far from the reality of what our summer is going to look like. I know that with his dream schedule would also mean lots of fighting when we try to do something not related to electronics, overstimulation, and not a lot of family time.

My dream summer would be my three kids playing nicely together, playing outside, not making horrible messes everywhere, not saying "I'm bored" a hundred times a day or "I have nothing to do", lots of fun swimming in our little pool, and not fighting. Add in two extra kids that I nanny two days a week to the fun of everyone getting along. Now I am being a big dreamer.

Back to reality even though this summer will be crazy for us on different aspects such as Brian working two jobs, Ella going back and forth to her dads, Austin is in a summer reading camp, Ella and Anna have safety town (Ella is working it), two extra kids, no big vacation planned... We still want to make some great memories and make our days go as smooth as possible. That's where some routines, expectations, chores, Summer Bucket List, I'm bored jar (which I am sharing all about tomorrow).

Day in the Life Summer Edition

Hey loves. Happy Thursday. I can't believe that our summer is almost over. I have been meaning to do this post all summer and keep forgetting. I also just checked and I have never done a Day In the Life Summer Edition post before either. I know these are a favorite topic and I love reading other bloggers day in the life posts too. I picked a random day to share. I picked last Wednesday.  I tried to also do a day in the life on Instastories but my Instagram has been messed up.

Here go Day In the Life Summer Edition, Wednesday August 16, 2023 of our last full week of summer break.

Summer Bucket List

Hey loves. We are home from vacation. On our drive the kids and I came up with a fun summer bucket list. At the top are a few things we already checked off on vacation. Starting our summer off strong.

Summer Outdoor Fun Ideas

Hey loves. It is officially summer. We are enjoying our summer already on vacation. Hitting up Disney World and the Beach then back home to make the most out of the next two months. Our goal is for very minimal screen time and lots of time outside.

Summer Outdoor Fun Items

Beach Must Haves

Summer is almost here as well as trips to the beach. I hate to admit that I live in Northern Ohio, just a few miles from Lake Erie but we never go to the Lake. It is not the cleanest of water, you can't see the bottom, and there always seem to be dead fish and other chemical warnings. Instead we head to the ocean. This year for vacation we going to the Atlantic Ocean and for the first time the Gulf of Mexico. Now we are only at each beach for a few hours one day each so we won't be bringing everything with us on this vacation, but have included items

Beach Must Haves

No Oven Summer Dinners

Hey loves. Summer is in full swing along with all the heat. When it is hot outside who wants to heat up the house even more by turning on the oven. We do grill out a lot, but that is all Brian as I don't use the grill, as in I don't get along with it.

Here are a few our of families favorite no oven or grill dinners. Some nights we add in a rotisserie chicken, microwaved mac and cheese for the kids, can of cooked chicken or tuna, or even something prepared earlier in the day with the crock pot. If Brian is home he will also throw something on the grill

Happy Fourth Of July

Hey loves.  Happy Fourth of July. We are spending out day at home just the 4 of us. Plans have gotten changed this weekend due to someone being sick so we are just hanging low for the next week. I will be back tomorrow with Amazon Lately. Have a wonderful, safe, and fun 4th of July.

Summer Essentials

Hey loves. Summer is just around the corner for us. I know for many of you it is already your summer break. I have compiled a list of our go to summer essentials. Things that we love and use year after year and a few things on our radar for this year.

Summer Weekly Recap Week 2

Two weeks down, many more to go. My summer so far has been a blur, but we have been having lots of fun. Here's the recap from week 2.

Summer Blogging Update

Hey loves. It is officially June. Summer is kind of here. Austin is on summer break from preschool but starts summer camp next week. Ella has school through the 8th. In a sense things are winding down and other things are just about to get crazy. There are going to be some changes around here....

Kids Morning Routine

Summer isn't over for us yet. It is Austin's last week of Summer Camp then two weeks of break before he starts preschool. Aubriella also doesn't start her virtual learning until after Labor Day. It really has been a weird summer for us with school letting out in March, to Austin having surgery in June and on restrictions all of July. It is just now feeling like a summer routine then everything is going to change again once school starts. With weird summer there has been a lot of electronic time. Since Austin got released and back to do everything we have started a morning and after lunch routine that the kids have to do before they can get their tablets or the TV.

Summer Bucket List 2020

Summer is in full swing over here, just a little different with a pandemic, social distancing, and places slowly opening back up with restrictions. The kids and I sat down and compiled our bucket list for this year.
