Hodge Podge

Hey friends. How is your week going? Yesterday was crazy with running around. Two of my kids had doctors appointments, I volunteer in my one daughters class everyday week, and a Girl Scout meeting. Today I am doing a fun link u with  Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond for Wednesday Hodge podge.

From this Side of the Pond

1. How did you meet your significant other? If you don't have a significant other, tell us how you met your best friend.

Brian and I meet working at Dunkin Donuts. He was my manager. We didn't start dating until after I had Ella and I was separated from my then husband. We have been together for 12 years.

2. It's Department Store Day (October 16)...do you still shop in department stores? If not do you miss that kind of shopping experience? Do you have a favorite department store? Any fun memories of department store shopping when you were a child?

I have not shopped in a department store since probably last Christmas and the store would have been Kohls (do we consider Kohls a department store) and JcPenny's. We did go window shopping recently at a new Macy's that just opened. I don't have big memories of shopping at department stores. I have found memories going to the mall with family and/or friends.

3. Something you're currently nuts about?

I feel like everyone around me is getting sick. Ella was sick a few weeks ago, Anna random will say she doesn't feel good, friends kids are sick, friends are sick. I have been back to drinking Activate-C daily from my wellness box. It is a daily immune support boost. You add a scoop to water, I prefer the orange flavor. My kids also will drink it. Some days I drink it warm other days I drink it cold.

4. What's your favorite nut and is there a favorite recipe where this nut is used?

My favorite nut is a cashew. I have never cooked with a cashew.

5. On Wednesday we officially reach the '70 days until Christmas' mark. Have you purchased any gifts? If you don't celebrate Christmas then how about Hanukkah presents?

I just ordered a few things off Shutterfly for Christmas for the grandparents, but I have not bought my kids anything yet.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Did you know Saturday is Sweetest Day? Yes it is an American Greetings holiday and not every state celebrates or even knows about it. It originally was where the female buys for the male, compared to Valentine's Day the male is suppose to buy for the female. My father proposed to my mom on Sweetest Day. Brian and I use to celebrate by going out to dinner or having a special dinner at home, but we haven't done that in a few years. We do have a date night planned for this Friday though so I will count that.

Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,

  1. It's that time of year I guess. My oldest daughter has been giving her kids elderberry and I'm thinking about taking it myself. They've had a really healthy year but I don't know if that's related or not? I haven't been in a Kohls in a long while. We don't have a lot of shopping close by so I mostly do online. We have a wedding to attend In November and I ordered five dresses online, kept one, and returned the rest. Most places make returns so simple now that this is an easy way to shop and I like trying things on at my leisure. Have a great day! Hope everyone stays well!

    1. I agree with trying on at home. then you can change your undergarments and shoes to see what will really work for you. My family also takes elderberry every day too.

  2. Hi, we just ordered the same in our wellness box. I agree, it is good warm or cold. And I like the orange best.
    I like cashews too. :-)
