Weekend Happenings

Happy Monday. We had a fun, family and birthday filled weekend. Time for a new week ahead.

Everyday on our walk home from school Ella has a snack. Usually it is crackers. Friday I surprised her with her own kids shake that she keeps asking me to make.

Saturday morning running around started with a trip to Lowes to buy fall flowers.

We saw these neon plants at Lowe's also. Ella said we need them for home. We did not buy them yet.

What a cool Shock Top bug car, even with a tap for beer. We saw this while walking around a local outdoor shopping mall that had a wine festival going on at night, we were there early in the morning for some grocery shopping.

While shopping we went to Fresh Thyme and Trader Joes also. Ella said she had fun shopping because at both stores she got little carts and treats. At Fresh Thyme they have banana's for the kids to eat while they are shopping and coloring pages to take home. Trader Joe's has a treasure chest with suckers the kids get to pick out of when we are done shopping.

The start of our birthday filled weekend. Ella wanted to make a chocolate cake from scratch for my mother's birthday. I had all the intentions of doing this with her. Then I couldn't find a recipe I liked, then we ran out of time so we used a box. But she still had fun. We will try again another time. Plus the best part of baking a cake is licking the beaters anyways.

Ella went to a birthday party for one of her friends from school and Girl Scouts. She had no idea where I was taking her and was so excited.

Here is our finished cake for my parents birthday. I never claimed to be a baker. As long as it tastes good that is all that matters. We invited them over for dinner and cake and ice cream. We had burgers on the grill with air fried green beans, baked sweet potato fries, and instant pot sweet corn on the cob. I was using all our appliances.

Sunday we went to my in-laws house to celebrate another birthday. It was such a gorgeous day we spent it outside. My kids love the pond in the backyard. They were looking for frogs.

Just a little tossing the football while grilling chicken. (I don't recommend this)

I am still over here doing #12daysofdresstember. Are you participating?

  1. Simon loves getting bananas to eat while we shop. My other kids prefer cookies!

  2. Those neon plants look really neat; I might have to see if our Lowe's has them... I could totally turn that into a science lesson!
