Roasted Turkey

Every year for Friendsgiving I borrow my parents roaster to make our turkey. Not only does it free up the oven to cook other things, but is also makes such a moist delicious turkey. I also love that it is easy than having to bend up and lift the turkey in and out of the oven.

 Roaster Turkey

(picture is before cooked)

  • 14-20 lb thawed turkey
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • salt/pepper
  • onion chopped in 1/4 sections

  1. Place rack in roaster
  2. Remove gilbets and neck from turkey and pat dry
  3. Place turkey in roaster on rack breast side up
  4. Rub the turkey with butter. (I also butter under the skin to add more flavor and moisture)
  5. Season with salt and pepper
  6. Place half of onion inside cavity of turkey. Take two other 1/4 of onion and place between skin and meat of the turkey.
  7. Cover the roaster. Cook at 400 degrees for 30 minutes
  8. Reduce heat to 325 and cook for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Until thermometer reads 165degrees
  9. Slice
  10. Serve
  11. Enjoy!!!
