 Crockpot French Onion Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1 sweet onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 slices of bread, thick cut and toasted and cubed
  • 4 oz Gruyere cheese, shredded

Directions:
  1. Carefully cut the onion into rings, then in half.
  2. Place onions in 4 quart crockpot.
  3. Add salt, pepper, butter, and Worcestershire sauce. 
  4. Cook on low for 7 hours until nicely brown and carmelized. 
  5. Pour beef broth into slow cooker and cook for at least one hour.
  6. When broth is done, preheat broiler to high.
  7. Place to oven safe soup bowls on a baking sheet. 
  8. Place onion soup in bowls. Top with cubed toasted bread. Sprinkle with cheese.
  9. Broil until cheese is bubbly and golden, about 3-5 minutes.
  10. Serve
