Monthly Musing

Hey loves. Today I am linking up with with Patty and Holly for Monthly Musing. We maybe over here enjoying fall and doing all the fun Halloween things. Today is all about Thanksgiving Prep.

1- Do you host Thanksgiving or go somewhere else?

This will be our first year hosting Thanksgiving. We decided to invite both families so we didn't have to house hop and no one would miss out. That equals about 20 of us.

2- What dishes do you make or contribute?

We used to just bring a dessert or a drink. This year since we are hosting we will be making the majority of the food and delegate appetizers and dessert to others. We are still determining our menu with combining both families traditional sides.

3- What's your favorite Thanksgiving recipe and will you share with us?

My mom's broccoli casserole has always been a favorite. I prefer it over green bean casserole.

4- What are your Thanksgiving traditions?

Every other year I have Ella on Thanksgiving morning. If if is a morning she is with us we have a North Pole Breakfast with our Elf on the Shelf Gus Gus arrived, we put up the Christmas tree, go through the Black Friday ads, and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. If it is a year we don't have we use keep it more low key and do the North Pole Breakfast on Friday instead. Now that we are hosting, we won't be doing any decorating until after Thanksgiving. With our schedule with Ella it looks like we won't be putting up our tree until the first weekend in December, which is still before Brian's birthday. Brian grew up not putting up his tree or any Christmas decorations until after his birthday that is December 8th. That is to late for my liking.

5- Stuffing or dressing?

Stuffing

6- Pumpkin, pecan or apple pie?

pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream

7- Casual dining or set the table?

Buffet style dining but everyone sits at the table (not on the couches)

8- Favorite beverages to serve with Thanksgiving dinner?

Fall sangria or a bottle of wine

9- Do you shop Black Friday?

Online yes, in person no. Like 20 years ago I did get up at 2am and stand in line at Best Buy to get a laptop. The same laptop was on sale again in February and the laptop only lasted a year. I don't see that good of deals to stand outside in the cold. I enjoy my Thanksgiving dinner with family that it was never worth it to leave to go shopping on Thanksgiving and I hate that stores are open on Thanksgiving. I also am not one for crowds.

10- Holiday movie or football game?

Growing up my family always had on a holiday movie or music or the fireplace on the tv. Brian's family is all football.

Thank you for stopping y!!!!! If you are new here,

  5. Fall Sangria sounds delicious! And we always used to put up our (live) tree on my uncle's birthday which is December 9th. We still have a live tree so can't put it up too early. And enjoy hosting and combining family traditions -- it sounds fun!
