Title: The Architect

Author: Nikki Sloane

Genre: erotica

How I Read It:  audiobook

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: On the surface, my new boyfriend is a stiff, buttoned-up architect. He plans every detail of his life while carefully maintaining the walls he’s built around his heart. But when the biggest project of his career pulls him away, Clay’s solution is both temporary and unconventional. It even comes with a name—Travis. This handsome stranger is sweet and thoughtful. He’s only meant to be a stand-in, to fulfill my needs under Clay’s watchful direction, yet these two men couldn’t be more different. The one thing they share? Well, I guess that would be me. One gets off on my pain, the other on my pleasure, and it awakens a desire none of us knew existed. But it can’t last. Eventually I’ll have to choose. And it’s going to destroy us all.

My Review: Hot, kinky, steamy. Obsessed with the book and didn't want it to end. It is book 3 in a series and I need to go back and listen to the other two. If you are looking for in-depth characters and story lines, this isn't the book for you.

Title: Lily Bennett's Bucket List

Author: Katherine Dyson

Genre: chic lit

How I Read It:  kindle

My Rating: 1 out of 5

Amazon Description: What would Lily Bennett do?

This is the question Lydia Grey finds herself repeatedly asking ever since she discovers Lily’s bucket list at the bottom of her shopping trolley. Lily clearly knows how to live life and it’s about time Lydia started to live hers. And what better start than to tick off all Lily’s life-long dreams . . .

1. Ride a horse
2. Jump off the 10m diving board
3. Climb a mountain
4. Go camping
5. Ride a rollercoaster
6. Learn to surf
7. Go stargazing
8. Get a tattoo
9. Do the scariest thing you can think of

After all, how hard can it be to complete the list? Except number nine means that Lydia must open herself up to her past to move on with her future . . .

My Review: DNF The storyline of the book caught my attention, but felt to slow to really hook me. I tried a few different times and I couldn't get into it.

Title: Christmas in July

How I Read It:  ebook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Hawaii has only ever brought me heartbreak. Time to spread my wings and explore somewhere new…

Now if only we can survive his insanely rich, controlling mother, who believes we won't last until Christmas Day...
Will this magical year of my life become only a beautiful memory, or something that lasts forever?

My Review: A cute with spice Christmas in July read. From strangers to travel buddies to lovers. Wish the book was longer.

Title: Never Lie

Author: Frieda McFadden

Genre: Mystery Thriller

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams.

But when they visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier,
a violent winter storm traps them at the estate… with no chance of escape until the blizzard comes to an end.

In search of a book to keep her entertained until the snow abates,
Tricia happens upon a secret room. One that contains audio transcripts from every single patient Dr. Hale has ever interviewed. As Tricia listens to the cassette tapes, she learns about the terrifying chain of events leading up to Dr. Hale’s mysterious disappearance.

Tricia plays the tapes one by one, late into the night. With each one, another shocking piece of the puzzle falls into place, and
Dr. Adrienne Hale’s web of lies slowly unravels.

And then Tricia reaches the final cassette.

The one that reveals the entire horrifying truth.

My Review: Twists and turns around every corner. Frieda never disappoints with her stories with ending you never saw coming but are not so far in left field that you want to throw the book across the room. I could not listen quick enough.

Title: Cavalier

Genre: romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Welcome to Crimson Elite, the most exclusive sex club in the world. It’s as if she’s seeing my icy heart and trying to melt it, set it alight with each touch of her sinful lips. But that can’t work, it won’t work. Not in my world

My Review: A game of cat and mouse with your boss that your not suppose to like. A hot and steamy quick listen.

Title: Let's Make It Legal

Author: Patricia Kay

Genre: romance

How I Read It: ebook

My Rating: 2 out of 5

Amazon Description: When Sydney Wells, a workaholic lawyer and passionate children's advocate, meets John Appleton, a sexy widower with two young children, fireworks ensue. Thanks to a father who was thwarted in his desire for a son and named his fourth daughter after himself, Sydney has never thought of herself as womanly or sexy or even attractive. But from their first meeting, John recognizes the sexy woman beneath her severe clothing and practical shoes -- a woman he can't stop thinking about -- even though he knows nothing can ever come of the attraction he feels for her. Sydney, too, is more interested in John than she can admit -- even to herself. Despite their differences and all the obstacles in their path, their attraction grows and they can't seem to stay away from one another. Can this romance ever work? Can these two find a way to combine their two distinctly different lives? Or are John and Sydney destined to face heartbreak?

My Review: Slow read that I forced myself to finish. For Sydney being a top lawyer she is very needy and being a children's advocate, her wants are more important than John's kids. Predictable ending.

Title: If You Only Knew

Author: Kristan Higgins

Genre: romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 3 out of 5

Amazon Description: The drama, hilarity and tears of sisterhood are at the heart of the thoroughly captivating new novel by New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins—a funny, frank and bittersweet look at marriage, forgiveness and moving on

Letting go of her ex-husband is harder than wedding-dress designer Jenny Tate expected…especially since his new wife wants to be Jenny's new best friend. Sensing this isn't exactly helping her achieve closure, Jenny trades the Manhattan skyline for her hometown up the Hudson, where she'll start her own business and bask in her sister Rachel's picture-perfect family life…and maybe even find a little romance of her own with Leo, her downstairs neighbor, a guy who's utterly irresistible and annoyingly distant at the same time.

Rachel's idyllic marriage, however, is imploding after she discovers her husband sexting with a colleague. She always thought she'd walk away in this situation, but her triplet daughters have her reconsidering her stance on adultery, much to Jenny's surprise. Rachel points to their parents' perfect marriage as a shining example of patience and forgiveness; but to protect her sister, Jenny may have to tarnish that memory—and their relationship—and reveal a family secret she's been keeping since childhood.

Both Rachel and Jenny will have to come to terms with the past
and the present and find a way to get what they want most of all.

My Review: I forgot I read this book years ago. Different aspects of the story hit differently this time around as I listened to the story compared to physically reading it.

Title: Candy Kisses

Author: Verna Clay

Genre: romance

How I Read It: ebook

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: After his latest bull riding competition, widower Dirk Branigan is flat on his back with a busted leg and in dire need of domestic help for the care of his ten year old daughter Tessa, as well as meal preparation and household chores. Because he receives a referral from his friends Sage Tanner and Miles Brightman, he hires a woman sight, unseen. After meeting his "domestic help," he decides Sage and Miles are going to owe him big time. The woman is spoiled, temperamental, frustrating, and yes, occasionally, endearing. Thankfully, Tessa takes to her immediately. As for Dirk, uncovering the woman behind the facade will take patience, coaxing, and a lot of love.

My Review: A boss to lover romance with a trigger warning for a miscarriage. Southern charm always win.
