Hey friends. Hello from Florida. Brian is on a work trip and I got to tag along this time. I am very grateful for grandparents stepping up to help out with my kids for a few days. This was a last minute trip, so many things were up in the air. Flights didn't get booked until last Wednesday and we left on Sunday with delays and flying around a tropical storm. With that I was so stressed with what to pack, what not to pack and to make matters worse we were not checking any luggage so everything had to go in my carry on suitcase or personal bookbag.
So what did I pack and how did I pack it?
- To start off I started with a list. Since this was a business trip for Brian I did not plan or do any packing for him. I listed everything from clothes to phone chargers, make-up to my kindle for myself. Since this was a last minute trip it was stressful of not being prepared far in advance, usually I start packing odds and ends two weeks before, not 4 days before. The advantage was I was just packing for me and not 3 additional kids who need more stuff.
- I lay everything out on the bed that I am taking with me. Checking items off my list as I do this. At this time I also add anything I may have forgot, make a list of last minute items I still need to pack morning of (make-up, contacts and glasses, etc)
- Since we are only taking carry on luggage, we each had our own items in our suitcases. If we were checking a suitcase(s) our items would have been swapped in each suitcase incase one got lost we would both still have clothes.
- TSA liquid items in a quart back always stresses me out too. Making sure everything is under the limit and fits in the bag. This time I grabbed make-up wipes, and face wash wipes instead of bringing liquids. (they also didn't make us take our liquids out of out luggage, this the people behind us did.)
- side note I have been patted down by TSA before traveling with kids. We had a brand new up opened package of baby wipes set off the alarms.

Our last few trips we haven't had to take any liquids out either and they seem to be allowing more through than the standard quart size bag as well. I am loving how quickly I can get through security now not traveling with young kids!
