Hello Monday

Hey friends. How was your weekend? We had a busy weekend. Ella had 3 performances that went awesome. I was at each one, and had to get her ready, it was a lot and I am happy to have a day to catch up on everything. Lets jump into how our weekend went.

I am linking up with Sarah and Holly for Hello Monday.

Friday

Picture retake day. We missed actual picture day when we were out of town. It was a rushed morning and I forgot to take a picture of her before she left so Ella took a selfie on the bus, also trying not to get caught on her phone. Fingers crossed her pictures turn out good because it was also an extra $10 for shipping instead of being delivered to the school.

Morning bus stop fun. Playing pickle in the middle with a football and Anna. Not picture is our neighbor friend who is throwing the football to Austin.

After the kids went to school I did made my grocery list, did some errands I had to get done, went grocery shopping and came home to record our grocery haul for the week. Here is this weeks grocery haul video

Anna's teacher sent picture of the kids drawing using different shapes.

After school was a quick dinner of hot dogs and French fries while I got Ella ready for her first official performance night.

Ella had to be to the school by 6 to get ready for her performance. I was allowed to do her hair at home but I had to get her dressed at school and another student was assigned to do her make-up as her crew position.

The first night of performance went great. There were hiccups but the audience would never know, which is the way theatre is suppose to be.

Saturday

A slow start to our Saturday, but still out the door by 9 am for swim lessons. Ella was home to watch Austin so i didn't have to drag him with me. Anna had another good lesson worked more on putting their face in the water and started laying on the stomach.

Ella was in a good mood and played with her siblings for a little while. She brought down her keyboard and they were playing music and singing, as well as some "school quiz" that Ella made up.

This weeks soup/stew/chili is white bean chicken chili. Normally Brian is the one that makes the white bean chili. I have no idea what recipe he uses or ingredients. I winged it and it turned out good but didn't make as much as I had anticipated.

Anna turned on Taylor Swift Eras tour on Disney, then made her own Piano out of a pillow and sang along. The fan is her microphone stand.

Between a long week, swim lessons, and performing with Taylor it wears a girl out. She had a nice two hour nap.

I took Ella to her school and got her ready. I came home and surprised Anna with a Cinderella costume that was in the attic that use to be Ella's. We took Anna and Austin to see Ella's performance. I got permission from the drama teacher to take Anna back stage to see Ella. The scream and excitement from the two Cinderella's and other girls in drama club you could hear out front.

The pure joy in their faces.

Sunday

Brian took the kids to church, ( but not Sunday school) while I stayed home and got to baking some beignets. They did not turn out, they didn't rise. I had made a different batch from a different recipe earlier in the week that rose but didn't fry well. It was a bust.

After church the kids helped Brian with yard work. It was the last day of nice weather before potential freezing temps and snow. We had law decorations and pots that needed put away, dead plants that needed pulled, the fire wood restocked in the garage...

Brian also ran all the gas out of the rotartiller, and snow blower. (The gas in the snow blower was a few years old)

Anna helped sweep leaves off the patio.

While Austin picked small sticks to use to start a fire.

I also made creamy jambalaya pasta for the Browns game. Then Brian and the kids headed to our neighbors for the game as I got ready to take Ella to her last performance of How to Enchant a Bookshop.

After the performance we were allowed to take a group shop of everyone in costume, because we forgot to do this on Thursday.

My parents also came to watch.

The Performance
Thursday night was the last dress rehearsal for the middle school performance of How To Enchant a Bookshop. Parents were allowed to attend and take pictures.

The whole cast in their drama shirts.

Ella played the part of Cinderella. A book fairy used a spell to get fairy tale characters out of books. First she did a book about mice, the mice ate some books. One being the fairy tale book Cinderella was in. When the mice ate the book they also ate a whole in Cinderella's.

It was a really cute play. The drama teacher also explained that the play could be modified and parts added based on the number of students who wanted to be in the play.

  3. School plays are the best! I miss them. My daughter´s high school didn´t do one her senior year due to Covid. She likely would have gotten the lead so it was a bit disappointing. I hope your daugher loved being in the play!
