Cozy Self Care Rituals

Hey loves. Winter blues have started. Cold dreary days when you don't want to get out of bed. It is the perfect time to slow down and do some self care. You deserve and need some time for you. Focusing on small things that bring me comfort.

It has been a struggle the last week with my kids back in school to get up before the sun, when my bed is warm. If it wasn't for me having to get up with them I would roll over and fall back asleep (or really just lay there). I have started doing these small little tweaks to help add some self care to my day.

  • Start each morning with a warm drink. I either do warm water with a slice of lemon or warm water and Activate c from the wellness box. It is a refreshing orange flavor and is an immune complex to help keep me healthy with all the sickness going around. I personally try to avoid caffeine before I at least have some protein and 8oz of water.
  • Candles. Lighting a candle in the evening instantly shifts the vibe of any space. Or even using battery operated candles gives you the same calm. The scent I have been burning is a cranberry spice with a flickering wick. It is an easy way to make the dark evening feel a little more magical.
  • Unplug and unwind. I have been making it a point to put my phone down everyday from the time the kids get off the bus until they go to bed. (from like 330 to 730). That time away not only makes me more present with my family but it helps me unwind from a hectic day.
  • Pamper your skin. Winter weather is no friend to our skin. I have been learning into a little extra pampering. I have switching to using overnight recovery cream from the wellness box, and during the day Tarte maracuja oil during the day. For my body Renew Intensive skin therapy lotion has been my new best friend. It has has been wonderful on my daughters eczema
  • Curl up with a cozy blanket. I don't know what it is about a soft cozy blanket that not only warms you up but just makes me happy and welcome. My kids and I fight over the same blanket even though we have three in our living room. I love going to friends houses who have blankets out that are ready for you to curl up in.
  • Fuzzy Socks and/or slippers. Warm fuzzy socks or slippers are a necessity in the winter months.  I love feeling cozy all day.
  • Bake something. A snow day with baking in the kitchen brings me such joy. I am a big sourdough girl, but also love the smell of muffins and cookies. It brings comfort and joy insides and out.

Take a little extra time for yourself this season. These small rituals can make even the darkest, coldest days feel a little brighter. Comment and let me know which cozy self care pamper you are going to try first.
