Monthly Musing June

Hey loves. Happy Thursday. It is a two post day. Be sure to check out Summer Break Week 2  Time for  Monthly Musings for Summer Vacation Guide with  Patty and Holly.

1- Share your summer trips for 2025

We have a mini trip and a big trip planned for this summer. For a long weekend we will be going to Kentucky to Brian's sisters farm to relax and see family from Seattle. Our big trip is a week at Disney World. This time we are staying on property at a deluxe resort two bedroom suite with another family.

2- How do you manage the post vacation laundry?

The last few vacations we have been very spoiled, the hotel had in room laundry. I would wash all our dirty clothes before we left so we had very minimal to do when we got home. This time I plan to have all the laundry done before we leave for vacation so when we come home I am just start washing everything.

3- Most memorable summer vacation?

As a kid I grew up camping with a campers club. Every month (sometimes a few times a month) we would go to a different campground. For the most part that was our vacations, or going up to Canada every summer to visit family.

As an adult my most memorable vacation was to Disney World just Brian and I. It was my first time going since I was 2. We were there a week and did everything we wanted to do. It brought out my love for Disney even more and sharing the magic with my kids.

4- Do you cook or eat out on vacation?

Both. If the house/hotel has a kitchen we will make breakfast and lunches and a few dinners in. We always try to eat out local a few times too.

5- Are you an overpacker, under packer, or just right packer?

I am an over packer. My first vacation without my parents was my honeymoon on a cruise. I was so afraid I was going to forget something I need while in the middle of the ocean and not wanting to pay $6 for a travel size toothpaste. Now with kids I need all the things. Also when we stay at Disney without a car I am already we will need something and have no way of getting it, like swimmers ear that I just Amazon Primed so I could pack it.

6- Beach, lake or mountains?

Beach or lake usually. I actually have never been to the mountains.

7- Road Trip or fly?

Both. There are so many memories with a road trip. Conversations you get to have, random stops to make. There is nothing like flying and getting there quicker though too.

8- Favorite vacation activities?

Exploring local areas and not so tourist areas.

9- Best packing tips?

All the lists. I have everything broken down into what suitcase it goes in. Depending on where we are going I pack based on the day instead of the person. Example we are going to Disney World. On Thursday we are doing Magic Kingdom, all our clothes for that day will be in one packing cube.

10- Favorite Road Trip Songs?

Whatever is on Sirius satellite radio. The kids put on a movie with their headphones and we turn on music, usually country or a podcast.

  1. When we take road trips I bring all the options. Why not if there's room? I've gotten a bit better over the years, but still can overpack if it's a car trip. Flying requires discipline : ) Enjoy your summer travels!

    1. I am the opposite with over packing when we fly and under packing when we road trip because I can just stop at the store. Have a great summer!!

  2. That Disney trip sounds wonderful! We had a washer/dryer in our deluxe resort so I brought along some laundry tabs and we did laundry before coming home. I love that.. plus we never feel like we need to pack as much with a washer/dryer at hand too. I also love having a kitchen to cut down on eating out-- my body does best sticking to mostly foods I usually eat. Too much dining out starts to make me feel sick so we try to only eat one meal a day out and the others at "home"- whatever that looks like for the week. I definitely pack more for some trips than other (Disney/cruises/road trips I tend to pack more) but a laid back beach or mountain trip I pack a lot less and always think if I really need something we can just go buy it.

    1. I am the same way with eating out. Last week we ate out at least once a day and my stomach did not agree with me. I also wasn't making the best choices when we were eating out.

  4. Both of your trips sound special and fun! I hope you enjoy both. I love that you guys were part of a campers club. Nate's Grandparents were also and we have their "badge" hanging in the camper! I love it. I hope you get a chance to visit the mountains - it's truly magical!

  5. Okay I think a bunch of you might be influencing me to do laundry at the end of my trip if possible before I head home...
