Road Trip to the Farm Part 1

Hey loves. How is your week going so far? I have to admit this week is going better than the rest of summer. I grabbed my planner and I am getting organized, planning my day, and getting the things done. I even scrubbed the shower and bathtub yesterday, and I hate to admit they were gross and needed done.

This past weekend we went on a mini road trip to Brian's sisters farm down in Kentucky. We have visited her once a year for the past 4 years. My kids love the animals while Brian and I love the relaxation as well as seeing his sister. I am sharing part 1 of our trip, sorry for the picture overload.

Thursday July 10

Anna had her last tball game of the year (they kept extending the season), then we hit the road. We stopped and grabbed Dave's Cosmic Subs dinner. They were delicious but very messy to eat while driving.

While driving Anna saw a full rainbow, I couldn't get the whole thing in one picture.

Entertainment for the evening was movies on the DVD player in the van. Anna did ask to color a little also. Nothing else got taken out of their travel basket.

We made one pit stop on the way. We tried to stop at a rest area, but the restrooms were closed. Instead we stopped at a Loves gas station. Most of the time Loves are clean which this one was.

We arrived at a hotel Residence Inn in Mason Ohio at 1030. We were there just to sleep.

Friday July 11

Anna and Austin shared a bed. Anna got woken up by singing Happy Birthday to her. It was her 6th birthday.

Ella slept in the large sleepover sofa.

This hotel had a full kitchen, which would be great if we were there for more than one night.

A delicious hot continental breakfast with eggs, regular and turkey sausage, and ham egg and cheese on a croissant sandwich.

Cereal, yogurt, juice, and hard boiled eggs. (the hard boiled eggs were just in an open container sitting in ice. I saw a little girl stick her hand in and grab two eggs, then put one back. no thank you)

Waffle bar, oatmeal bar, muffin and fruit.

Outside our room we had a view of a pond and King's Island amusement park.

Ready to hit the road.

Drawing and watching a movie.

Austin gets car sick and we have found if he is watching a movie on the ceiling he does better. He no longer gets a tablet to look down at. We also give him Dramamine before we leave.

They put a new Buc-ee's in Kentucky, it was huge. We wondered around for 20 minutes, but could have been there longer.

They had to have a picture.

We picked up a package of chocolate chip cookies. They were soft and delicious.

Somerset Water park was the plan for the day. They opened at 11, we got there at 1115, Brian's sister, brother in law and grandkids were already there and had gotten a cabana otherwise there is no shade.

We stayed at the water park until 430. They had so much fun. Austin was the only one tall enough for the water slides. Anna loved the kiddy area with slides, a dump bucket, and sprayers. They also had a lazy river and wave pool.

The sun wore them out.

They both had 40 minute power naps to the farm.

We got to the farm, unloaded, relaxed a little then it was time to play with the chickens.

Just a lonesome bull.

We had frozen pizza's for dinner, the kids played, then the cows came up to the hill pasture.

The little cow that is lighter brown on the right was only 3 days old or so.

After a long day we called it an early night around 9. I took the kids to bed, and Brian stayed up to chit chat on the patio listening to the frogs.
