Monkey Bread

This pregnancy I have been cravings for sweets. It doesn't help that Ella and I have been watching some baking shows, she really likes the kids baking cook offs. A few weeks ago the kids were making Monkey Bread. Ella asked if we could make some too.

She loves helping in the kitchen and there is nothing wrong with teaching them young the essentials they need for life.

We decided to make  banana nut monkey bread based on the ingredients we had at home and what we would eat. It turned out delicious. I have to admit those kids make it seem so easy that I think half the shows are fake, or they are just that good and I am not.

Monkey Bread

Ingredients:

  • 3 8 ounce packages buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsps cinnamon
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • any additional add in you want (banana, nuts, fruit, chocolate chips, etc)

Directions:
1- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare Bundt pan by spraying with cooking spray.
2- Cut biscuits into fours. (great way to get kids involved using a butter knife)
3- Combine 1 cup sugar and 2 tsps cinnamon in a bowl. Roll each pieces of dough in the sugar cinnamon mixture and gently arrange them into the prepared Bundt pan.
4- In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup cinnamon sugar mixture, brown sugar, and butter. Bring to a boil then remove from heat. Drizzle over biscuits in Bundt pan.
5- Bake 30 minutes.
6- Allow to rest in pan for 5 minutes. Cover with large plate and flip over pan.
7- Serve.
8- Enjoy!!!
