Share Our Lives Tips for Falling Asleep

Hey loves. Happy Monday. It is a busy 3 post day with some meal planning and a hello Monday with a look back at our weekend. Today the plan is to go to the office, fingers crossed everyone is back to school. We have a crazy week with meetings, school parties, and no school on Friday.

It is time for Share Our Lives link up.  Join DaraJenJoannaSarah, and myself on the second Monday of every month we share different aspects of our lives.

In January we shared Tips to Share Time on Chores

This month we are sharing our Tips for Falling Asleep.

I am very grateful for the season of life I am currently in that includes getting sleep, and my kids sleeping in their own beds. I was a co-sleeping, breasting mama for many years. At one time I was a single mom, sleeping on an air mattress in my parents living room working 3 jobs. Sleep has not always come easy.

Falling asleep can be a problem for many people for many reasons. I have learned some times about myself and sleep that could help you too.

  • Stay off the phone in bed. It is so easy to get lost strolling TikTok or Instagram that is very over stimulating.
  • If on a device use a blue light or dark mode.
  • Limit caffeine after a certain time. For me I notice if I have a preworkout or even tea with caffeine after 3 than I don't sleep as well
  • Limit Alcohol.
  • White noise- between my kids sound machine down the hall and my diffuser and/or humidifier there is always some sort of while noise.
  • Turn off the lights- even a little night light can make it hard for me to sleep.
  • Nightly stretching/meditation
  • Magnesium- I drink mela-out from the wellness box
  •  Don't workout before bed
  • Fresh air- I always sleep better with a window cracked (weather permitting) and or when we spend time outside.
What tips do you have to help falling asleep?

  1. Quite a few people have said limiting caffeine later on and I don't do that but maybe I should.

  2. I find fresh air to be a big one for me too! That always conks me out no matter the season... and since I never drink caffeine or alcohol I don't have to worry about those either.

  5. Sleep does come easier as the kids get older. I always sleep better with fresh air! When I have been outside during the day and with a window open on a night.

  6. I love my sound machine with white noise. Before I started using melatonin, I would use a powder magnesium/stir in with water, and it did the trick as well.

  8. Good tips! I try and keep my phone out of my room unless I need it to wake me at a certain time. I can't sleep with the window opened because I end up with a stiff neck. Thanks for stopping over! I couldn't reply directly to your comment via email because you are a "no-reply blogger".
