Title: Local Women Missing

Title: Carrie Soto is Back

Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid

Genre: contemporary fiction

How I Read It: physical copy borrowed from the library

My Rating:  1 out of 5

Amazon Description: Carrie Soto is fierce, and her determination to win at any cost has not made her popular. But by the time she retires from tennis, she is the best player the world has ever seen. She has shattered every record and claimed twenty Grand Slam titles. And if you ask Carrie, she is entitled to every one. She sacrificed nearly everything to become the best, with her father, Javier, as her coach. A former champion himself, Javier has trained her since the age of two.

But six years after her retirement, Carrie finds herself sitting in the stands of the 1994 US Open, watching her record be taken from her by a brutal, stunning player named Nicki Chan.

At thirty-seven years old, Carrie makes the monumental decision to come out of retirement and be coached by her father for one last year in an attempt to reclaim her record. Even if the sports media says that they never liked “the Battle-Axe” anyway. Even if her body doesn’t move as fast as it did. And even if it means swallowing her pride to train with a man she once almost opened her heart to: Bowe Huntley. Like her, he has something to prove before he gives up the game forever.

In spite of it all, Carrie Soto is back, for one epic final season. In this riveting and unforgettable novel, Taylor Jenkins Reid tells her most vulnerable, emotional story yet.

My Review: I could not get into this book. I read the first 50 or so pages and it didn't hook me and I was just bored with it. I didn't finish it.

Title: Behind Closed Doors

Author: B.A Paris

Genre: mystery thriller

How I Read It: physical copy from library

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He’s a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better.

But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable.

Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows.

Some might wonder what’s really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed.

My Review: Another I could not read fast enough but at the same time it had my heart racing, made me cringe, I didn't want to know what happened next but needed to know what happened next.

Title: Reminders of Him

Author: Colleen Hoover

Genre: Romance

How I Read It: audiobook

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild. Everyone in her daughter’s life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself.

The only person who hasn’t closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna’s life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them.

The two form a connection despite the pressure surrounding them, but as their romance grows, so does the risk. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to build a future out of hope and healing.

My Review: A heartbreaking story that would be hard for any mom to read, and never want to be put in those shoes. It had me in tears, happy tears and sad tears. A life story and love story intertwined.

Title: Haunting Adeline

Author: H.D. Carlton

Genre: dark, thriller, romance

How I Read It: audiobook (available to read for free on kindle unlimited)

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: The Manipulator

I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.
I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh.
But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave.
He's always there, watching and waiting.
And I can never look away.
Not when I want him to come closer.

The Shadow

I didn't mean to fall in love.
But now that I have, I can't stay away.
I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves.
The way she undresses...
I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine.
And once she is, I'll never let her go.
Not even when she begs me to.

My Review: This book has heavy trigger warning and the first dark stalker romance I read. After hearing so many people talk about it on booktok I decided to give it a listen. I am surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and can't was to listen to the next one.

This book does leave you with a cliff hanger.

Title:  Mercy

Author: Sara Cate

Genre: erotica

How I Read It:  kindle unlimited

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: I don’t want to hurt him—I just want to punish him.

It’s bad enough being the only female owner of the Salacious Players’ Club, but I’m also the only one without a kink, or so I thought.

Imagine my surprise when the kink quiz suggests that I’m not so vanilla after all.

In fact, I’m a lot more like Emerson Grant than I thought.

Just one problem—I have no idea how to be a Domme.

That is, until the app matches me with someone willing to help me learn.

He’s too young for me.

Too stubborn. Too good looking.

And, oh yeah, my friend’s son.

Beau Grant is a brat. I’d hate that about him if I didn’t love punishing him so much.

Underneath all of that attitude is a man who is misunderstood, selfless, and in need of direction.

But if he wants mercy, he has to earn it.

There are a million reasons why I should stay away, but I’m tired of doing what everyone thinks I should do.

I finally know what I want, and I’m ready to take what’s mine.

My Review: The last book in the Salacious Players club did not disappoint. Girls have wants, needs and desires just as much as men. I enjoyed watching them grow as characters.

Title: A Royal for Christmas

Author: Alix Nichols

Genre: romance

How I Read It: kindle unlimited

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: I’m Camille — the only pauper in Mount Evor.

But that’s not why I’m on the no-fly list.
Six years ago, the principality’s royal palace went up in flames.
Several people died.
My sister Jeannette, who worked there, disappeared.
The inquiry blamed her for the arson.
Since then, I’ve been an outcast—compromised and harassed—but determined to clear my sister’s name.

Four weeks before Christmas, the hunky Louis de Valois, Duke of Arrago, raps on my window.
What if he has news about Jeannette’s case?
I invite him in.
He glances at his watch and declines my invitation.
And then he asks me to marry him.

My Review: A planned marriage turned into opposites attract with a little mystery thrown in and rags to riches. I enjoyed this quick cute read.

Title: Dear Santa

Author: Kristen Granata

Genre: romance

How I Read It: kindle unlimited

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Amazon Description: Dear Santa,

Find me a fake boyfriend I can take home for the holidays...

There are certain things I never thought I’d do. Hiring an escort to pose as my boyfriend sits at the top of that list. But the idea of sitting alone at Mom’s table for the fifth year in a row after my fiancé cheated on me has me feeling desperate. It started as a drunken joke when I let my best friend convince me to fill out an application for a male escort. Now, I’m on my way to see my family with the man I paid for.

He’s nothing like the polished professional I expected—complete with tattoos, a sinful muscular physique, and a blunt attitude. I almost call the whole thing off. Yet there’s something he’s hiding under his gruff exterior, and while I’m supposed to be getting to know my fake boyfriend, I’d rather learn about who this mysterious man truly is.

What started as a simple business transaction isn’t so simple anymore. We can barely keep our hands off each other—even when no one’s watching. The lines we drew in our contract are blurring, and it doesn’t feel like we’re pretending. I can’t keep up with our lie for much longer.

But how can I trust my heart with someone who fakes love for a living?

My Review: A great quick holiday read. For being a novella the characters and story lines were detailed and relatable.

Title: The Billionaires Christmas Bundle of Joy

Amazon Description: This is one Christmas that James Chance can’t cancel.

A baby!

One thing is for sure: James Chance is going to learn to love Christmas…

Title: His Holiday Pact

Author: Ayla Asher

Genre: romance

How I Read It: kindle unlimited

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazon Description: Who knew a fake holiday relationship could be so fun?

Kayla Summers has had enough of her mother’s insistence that she find a man and get married. At thirty-three, she’s a successful attorney and has a fantastic life. Knowing her mother will grill her constantly over the upcoming holidays about her single existence, she dreads the visits home.

Carter Manheim is a self-proclaimed bachelor, dead set on seducing every beautiful woman in Manhattan. And why not? His parents’ disastrous marriage and divorce proved that lifelong commitments just aren’t viable. As his mother’s health worsens, his only wish is to give her one last happy holiday, even if it entails bringing home a girlfriend.

When Kayla’s sexy neighbor proposes they take each other home for the holidays as fake partners, she’s floored. However, getting her mother off her back is her number one priority and she agrees to the arrangement. Now, if she can only keep her heart from becoming emotionally entangled with the player of the century, she’ll be just fine…

This book is filled with fast-paced fake relationship shenanigans and steamy scenes designed to melt your Kindle. The main character’s mother has late-stage cancer so please consider that before reading. Here’s hoping this funny, romantic story can give you a few hours of escape during the holidays! Enjoy!

My Review: Fake relationship turns real. I enjoyed the characters growing up and together. Hot romance but not over the top. This could be a Hallmark Christmas movie.
