Ella's Birthday Weekend Recap

Hey friends. I am still in denial I have a teenager. Our friend made the comment that shes been a teenager since we met which was a little over 2 years ago. I couldn't agree more, she has been full teenager attitude for a few years. We had a crazy busy weekend. I am ready for a more relaxing week. But first lets look back at the weekend. I am linking up with Sarah and Holly for Hello Monday on a Tuesday.

Friday

I had another opportunity to volunteer for my daughter's classroom. Her class was hosting a nursery rhyme Olympics. Each kid had to design a Humpty Dumpty that wouldn't break when dropped. Anna had an egg we made out of fabric, stuffing and googly eyes. She also used two face masks as a hammock and a parachute. When she dropped the egg flew out of the hammock, but because it was "a pillow" he didn't break.

Two parents had different stations where they did a fun activity based on a nursery rhyme. My station was based off of Hickory Dickory Dock. The kids ran a relay (teams of 2) and placed the numbers on the correct place on a clock. Whichever team got done first won.

After all the stations there was an awards ceremony where every kid got a gold medal. It was fun and cute.

The rest of the day I was home cleaning, doing laundry, baking prep, prepping for a busy weekend.

Saturday

I slept in a little but still go up and got a workout done. I knew if I didn't get it done early it would not get done.
After my workout I did a few things then took a quick shower before it was time for ...

soccer. this week was rough Anna was not into it. She was tired, didn't want to run, and had no desire to be there.

After soccer it was back to finishing everything for Ella's party. Brian was in charge of food and if it could go wrong it did. He over cooked the pasta for mac and cheese then had to start from scratch. He made some sort of beef in the crock pot that was cooked but didn't want to shred. (He should have cooked on high and now low, and we figured out my crockpot had a crack down the middle but didn't go all the way through but head and juices were escaping)

At 230 Ella's friends started showing up for her birthday party. Friends and family started showing up at 3 as well. The guys watched the Ohio State Football game while the kids all ran wild.

This is the first year I didn't take any/many pictures of Ella and her friends. They were doing their own thing.

I got some cuddles and a little napper. His mommy was out of town and he just wanted a mommy to hug him to sleep. I will take the cuddles. Then I had my own little jealous monster.

Time for Happy Birthday.

My mom made a two layer cake with chocolate and vanilla. It had purple frosting with black music notes.

After most of the people left Ella had planned a Who Knows Ella best game. She went made a 74 page slide show. (I have no idea what she is wearing)

Ella had 5 girls for her party, only 3 ended up staying the night. The girls watched The Christmas Chronicles and did facemasks, karaoke, and a dance party.

Anna and Austin had a sleepover at my parents. After the party when my parents left they took the kids with them. Anna slept in the spare bedroom because she fell off the couch.

Austin slept on the couch and said it was so comfy.

Sunday

Comfy sleepovers on mattresses.

Before the girls left at 11 we drove to my cousins bakery for donuts. The girls came home and ate then played Taylor Swift Monopoly that Ella made herself.

The girls left and I started cleaning to get ready for the Browns game. Teenager girls are gross. The crumbs, snack bags under the couch, lettuce dropped on the floor, a salad dressing thrown up a table, half drank cups of pop, etc. I totally feel like my group of 7 kids all under 10 clean up after themselves better then teenagers. I can only imagine what it will be like when Austin is a teenager.

We hosted the Browns game this week against the Washington Commanders. Every week our group themes the foot based on who we are playing against. This week was a clam bake with corn on the cob, red potatoes and a bunch of snacks. We also had some octopus and squid that was grilled and so delicious.

The aftermath of all the cooking. I made Brian do the dishes because he made the mess, planned, the party and clam bake.

I had cleaned the house again, washed all the sheets from the sleepover to put back on my kids beds, got the kids showers, bedtime stories, backpacks ready, etc.

Overall we had a great weekend. But boy was it exhausting.

How was your weekend?
