Hey loves. Just a few more weeks of summer left to share. Time for a recap.
Monday August 11
Happy Monday and back to reality and back to work. Having a few days off work means playing catch up as well as all the everyday stuff.
We were in dire need of going to Costco. We were out of eggs, vitamins, etc. How this boy falls asleep, means it is time to start adjusting bedtimes for school.
Is there ever a time that Costco is not crazy busy. We were checking out by 3pm and it was madness. It was also the week before other local schools were starting back. Thankfully the kids behaved. Anna found an Elsa doll to add to her Christmas list. The rest of the evening was low key at home, just relaxing.
Tuesday August 12
The morning started off with an itty bitty deer in the yard before I headed off to work.
My parents came over. My dad watched Anna and Austin while my mom took Ella thrift shopping for back to school. Ella loves thrift shopping but our schedules for the next few weeks are busy and I prefer to go without having to take Anna and Austin with us so we can focus on looking at clothes. It was a great bonding time with Ella and my mom. They ended up getting Ella 11 different items for less than $40.
We had dinner outside on our back patio. We have only done a few times this year with it just being too hot. After dinner Brian took Anna and Austin shopping for new cleats and Austin a new baseball glove.
The night ended with deer. Anna was having a moment and needed a moment to herself. She asked if she could go sit outside on the patio. The next thing I know she is outside talking to five deer, the itty bitty, twins, mom and dad. Wednesday August 13
We have started earlier bedtimes with our kids, aka 9:30 this week to eventually get them to bed at 9, or even 830 for Anna (we will see how she does last year she went to bed between 7 and 730 to wake up at 7). I woke them both up at 7am since I needed to take them with me to pick up Ella. It was a struggle to get them out of bed, dressed, and to eat breakfast. We ended up being late to pick up Ella.
After picking up Ella, since we were already out we swung by Aldi. The new ad was out and I saw this cute ghost holding a pumpkin. (I will probably end up painting the pumpkin orange instead of the light pink). We also grabbed two ghost throw blankets, and some snacks the kids picked out.
I have to say we got there right when they opened at 830. There were people standing outside the door waiting for them to open. We sat in the car for a few minutes because I hate being those people (it use to drive me nuts when I worked at the salon and people would stand outside the door, peek in the windows, and try to get in early) By the time we got to the Halloween finds someone had bought 4 of the 6 haunted houses they had, based on the empty spaces. We went home and I got some real estate work done, and some church work from home. I also went through all the leftover school supplies that we had in the basement to see what I had to buy for my kids this year.
Time to clean all the fruit and veggies that I lazily just put in the fridge the last few days.
I was crazy and ambitious and took all 3 kids school supply shopping to Walmart at 3pm during tax free week. it didn't go well. Walmart was crazy busy, out of a lot of stuff, didn't have every spaces for some things we needed (plastic folders with holes, not prongs and not paper). We ended up buying what we could at Walmart, then headed across the street to Target. We got most of what we needed, but I still had to order some off Amazon. After we got the school supplies done, we looked at the toys and my kids started making their Christmas lists. (I have started adding their items to their Amazon wish list now too)
As my reward for taking the kids school supply shopping, I treated myself to this cute Ghost pillow.
My first successful attempt at making homemade sourdough hamburger buns. They took longer to make than I have scheduled. Austin had a baseball practice from 6 to 730. We had burgers for dinner at 8pm. They turned out delicious.
Thursday August 14
It was a busy start to the morning. Ella had a training at school that she had to be there by 830. She has volunteered to be apart of WEB (where everyone is welcome) her training was to plan 7th grade orientation, and help the students find their way around the school. (Middle school starts in 7th grade in our school district and is only 7th and 8th grade). I dropped Ella off at school then headed to work early. I saw no point is going home for 15 minutes to turn around and leave again.
Ella normally watches her siblings while Brian and myself are at work. With her not being home Brian's mom watched them. He dropped them off before he headed to his real estate appointments.
Ella's training was until 130, I worked until then and went and picked her up. I went to my mother in law's to pick up Anna and Austin and they didn't want to go home. They had just gotten in the little pool with their cousin and they thought I wasn't picking them up until after 3. A little miscommunication but it worked out.
Meet Elsa. This is Anna's aquatic frog that we have had for a year and a half. She is normally in Anna's room on her dresser. When we went away for vacation we brought down Anna's frog and Austin's fish to make it easier for our house sitter to feed them. They have been downstairs every since. Ela is so active swimming up and down all day.
My view from sitting in the formal dining room, which is currently my office. I look over and saw a mama and a baby in the front yard.
Anna and I went to TJ Maxx to go book bag shopping. That also turned into looking at Halloween decorations. Look at this cute Mickey Mouse wood decoration. It is probably about 6 inches tall, how much do you think it is?
Anna's new bookbag. The rule was it couldn't have a character on it or all the plastic. Her last book bag that she only had for Kindergarten is already ripping. I would like this one to last a few years. I have a feeling the little stuffies may fall off, but we did already glue them on to make them stronger. I love that the lunch box is attached to her book bag so she doesn't have to carry it.
When we were checking out these were in the checkout aisle. They were the only Disney decoration there so I say they were meant to be mine. Someone else probably thought of purchasing them and changed their mind. It just so happens that I have the matching larger Mickey Mouse that I bought a few years ago but could never find the matching Minnie.
I found this cute Disney mug in the clearance section for $2. I have been looking for a mug for work with Snow White but haven't found one. I grabbed this one to use for the time being. When I got home and took the sticker off it was not dishwasher safe and not microwave safe which is probably why It was on clearance. Oh well I will probably still use the microwave it is only because of the glitter.
Kitchen hair salon. Anna needed her hair washed with clarifying shampoo since swimming and chlorine her knots had been horrible. This is the easiest way for me to wash her hair, scrub her scalp and not get soap in her eyes since clarifying shampoo is not no tears.
After her shampoo and hair brushing the kids and I ended up across the street at the neighbors for 45 minutes to play with friends before bedtime.
Friday August 15
We have started practicing for back to school routines. Instead of me picking Ella up at 6am, her dad is going to drop her off on his way to work at 530ish.
I started my morning routine, then ended up falling back asleep on the couch. I hadn't slept well.
The summer life of these two usually starts with some tablet time.
By 130 I was dragging, I needed a little pick me up. I had half a can, then gave the rest to Ella.
That evening Ella and her friend watched the neighbor kids and her siblings for a total of 7 kids. The adults went out to a PTA mingle event then had dinner to celebrate a birthday.
Saturday August 16
Ella had a sleepover at her friend's house. Brian and I had plans so my parents drove out to watch the little two for a few hours. Honestly the grandparents haven't done too much babysitting now that Ella is old enough to watch her siblings for a few hours.
Brian and I had plans with our Tables for 8 group with our church. (it is 8 people, usually couples that get together once a month to do different things then the groups switch every quarter). One of the other couples planned a tour of Playhouse Square in Downtown Cleveland. It is the theatre district of which I had never been.
We learned some history, saw the beautiful ceiling, painting, etc. and toured 10 of the 11 theatres.
We had a fun group. Afterwards we had lunch at Merwin's Wharf in the flats on the river.
We had hoped to be back by 1, but our food took a while to come out. We got back at 140, I drove home and grabbed Anna and Austin and took them to the church (where Brian already was) for a Jungle Bob show with live animals. Brian stayed with them, then I went to pick Ella up, dropped her off, then got to the show right as it was ending.
We had a low key relaxing evening at home. I sat outside since it was gorgeous and did a little reading. I looked over and my frog I got for my birthday was lit up.
Sunday August 17
While waiting for everyone else to get ready for church I walked around and looked at all our flowers. This hibiscus bush, we didn't know was hibiscus it was just on clearance and Brian bought to block the air conditioning last fall. We have two of them and the one has started to bloom, and the deer haven't eaten it yet, fingers crossed it stays that way.
I have no idea what this is but I love the pink in it.
These daisies we planted 2 years ago when we got our patio done, this is the first year they are blooming and gorgeous.
Usually the deer eat these flowers.
After church I dropped Anna off at home for Ella to watch her. I went to Austin's baseball game.
After baseball we took home our neighbors son and daughter to have a play date. It turned into a long day with friends.
Ella and Benny do not get along. As you can see her is trying to escape. He takes a look at Ella and just starts barking. Ella is also one of the only ones that can yell at him and he will listen and go home. We are trying to get them to like each other.
Little man wanted to play with the RC bumper cars. Brian played with him by standing outside and watching through the patio door.
We had a good week and are counting down until school starts.
Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,
Feel free to follow along.
XOXO
