Hey loves. Summer has come to an end and we are back into school mode. We have two 4 day weeks with the Labor Day holiday in the middle. I am recapping our first week back.
Tuesday August 26
Alarms went off at 5am. Made sure Ella was up (that early was her request) then headed downstairs for my mindset morning and a workout before making sure Ella ate breakfast and was ready for school.
First day of school pictures with a teenager are so fun with attitude and no smiles. At least she hasn't refused back to school pictures yet.
Until I use bribery to get a smile.
I walked her to the bus stop for probably the last time ever. Next year she won't have a bus in high school. I was the only parent there but I wanted to make sure she got on the bus and see what time it actually showed up. Last year the bus was 30 minutes late on the first day, then 20 minutes until finally they changed the bus times. This year the bus was only a few minutes late. (it has been consistent this year so far)
While I was at the bus stop with Ella, Brian got Anna and Austin up and dressed. We had breakfast, Anna requested a braid in her hair.
Anna was so excited for her first day.
Austin was nervous.
These two are ready to go and the bus came 7 minutes early. (One year the bus was 15 minutes early and no one got first day of school pictures)
And they are off.
After all the kids got on the bus I meet up with some PTA moms that turned into mom's and mimosas. Then I headed to work from 11 to 3. I met Ella on the her walk home from the bus stop. She was very talkative, had a "horrible day" but really had a good day, she doesn't do well with change.
Anna and Austin also had a good day at school. I thought they would be starving and tired, but they wanted to play with their friends. We spent the evening playing with friends for a little bit then a low key easy bedtime.
Wednesday August 27
Ella got dropped off by her dad at 520 am. I ended up falling back asleep on the couch. She woke me up when she came back downstairs to eat breakfast. I am very thankful she is self sufficient at getting herself ready.
Toast with Nutella and strawberries for breakfast. Trying to avoid getting Nutella all over her beautiful dress.
After the kids went to school I became one with the couch and watched a little The Summer I Turned Pretty and started watching Hunting Wives. (If you watched Hunting Wives OMG we need to talk)
After school Anna had a make-up gymnastics class at a new gym. She was supposed to have class on Monday but it was the same time as Open House. I called to ask about being open for Labor Day and they said I could schedule a make up for Monday. She loved the make up class and teacher. The gym made us feel so welcome, showed us around, and I could watch her class. Unfortunately the teacher she had for the make-up class isn't her teacher on Monday's so we will see how it goes.
We had our Back to School Brinner but low key for dinner. I made eggs, protein waffles, sausage links and fruit for dinner.
Thursday August 28
Another morning another towel bib for Nutella waffles.
The kids got distracted eating breakfast by seeing the deer in the backyard. You would think this wasn't an everyday occurrence. I love that they still love the wildlife.
The kids headed off to school and I got ready for work.
My watch band got switched out by a Taylor Swift obsessed teenager.
It was the first day this year that the church hosted a homeschooling co-op. It was actually a pretty quiet day and everything went smoothly. It was a chilly day and all the germs have already started and kids are getting sick and bringing it home. (knock on wood not us) I have pulled out my Activate-C from the wellness box to up my immunity.
After school Anna and her best friend wanted a play date. This turned into a moms night that eventually involved all the kids and dads too.
Friday August 29
Bus stop adventurous. Getting in fights with noodles and running around while waiting for the bus to come.
The weather was in the 50s, the perfect weather for a pumpkin cream cold brew. I hate to say they put to much cold foam and it was to sweet.
It was a quiet morning at Trader Joes, followed by grocery shopping for the week at Aldi. I spent the rest of the day cleaning the house to prep for our cookout on Sunday and doing our weekly laundry.
Ella is a whole vibe of her own. Her jeans have different Taylor albums titles written on them, and her boots she painted the bottoms red. (it didn't stay on).Brian spent the evening working on the back yard, the kids played outside, and we had Qdoba for dinner.
Saturday August 30
It is the start of football weekends. We went to our neighbors house for brunch at 10am followed by the Ohio State game at noon. I took no pictures. One of the kids took my phone to take a picture of the sand box because they said it looked like ant holes, it turned out to be water holes.
After the game we headed back to our house. Brian and Marc (our neighbor) worked on spreading and leveling sand and playing the bricks for the addition to our patio. They finished laying the bricks at 9pm. There is still more that needs done but it is a work in progress and looks great. Sunday August 31
Brian left early to open up our church and prep the coffee for services. The sexton's we're out of town and Brian was helping out.
I started folding laundry, baking bread, cleaning, doing dishes, and cleaning the kids room. I lost track of time and we didn't make it to church.
After Brian got home from church he started setting up for our cookout.
We had a Labor Day cookout with about 40 people who showed up. Lots of meat and corn salads this year.
We ended the night by the kids playing in the house and the adults around the fire. Ella had made a fire and it kept going all day.
We had a good first week back to school and a full weekend with friends and family.
Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,
Feel free to follow along.
XOXO
