Cruise and California Vacation 2026 Day 6 Mazatlan

Hey loves. I am jumping back in and sharing all about our cruise to the Mexican Rivera we did with Norwegian back in March.

Thursday March 5 Mazatlan

Second port spot of our cruise was in Mazatlan. I did a little research (aka watched some YouTube videos before hand that said the blue line was an easy walk into town.) This day did not go how I had planned. But even better. This would not have happened if it weren't for being a large group of 9 in my eyes.

A foggy start to the day but still beautiful views.

We had a sit down breakfast then headed to the room to get ready for the day. The TV in our room you there are channels to view different cameras outside the boat. One being the front of the boat. Look at that tiny space we have to get through.

Good thing I am not the captain I don't think I would have made it.

Checking out the views in the Observation Lounge

Waiting on our friends to get off the boat.

Norwegian port at Mazatlan is in an industrial parkway. You have to take a tram to safely get to the start of the industrial parkway and taxi area.

We were off the boat by 930 then ready for our adventures of the day.

As soon as you cross the gates out of the port there are so many taxi drivers trying to give you a ride. Some will follow you, try to bargain with you, some lie, ... I had the intention of just walking and knew my kids could do it. But our friends kids were already complaining. The dads decided we would take an open truck taxi (as you sit in the bed of the truck on benches and it is secure (but you can still jump out if needed, yes I watch to many Lifetime movies)
First stop was to see the lighthouse at a distance. You could pay to walk up to the lighthouse and the views I heard are gorgeous but we were limited on time and had whiny children.

Second stop was the main shopping area and a beautiful church. On the church grounds was this breathtaking tree.

You can see the carving of Jesus on the side.

The church was also gorgeous inside with so much character and history. We only popped in because we technically we're not wearing appropriate clothes. The church is Immaculate Conception Cathedral

This is the blue line that takes you from the port into the main market of the city. It is supposedly a 20 minute walk, .75 miles. It went through some very busy intersections and small roads.

We got dropped off at the market shopping area. The kids saw a bakery with donuts. Anna picked a K-Pop donut, it ended up being gross.

The market was very overwhelming. The vendors are trying to get you to look, touch, and buy something. There is so many people and I fear for someone grabbing one of my kids. Brian knows some Spanish and was listening to one of the shop owners who was talking with a customer about prices in American money. The seller told the buyer twice as much as what the real price should have been with the conversion rate. We ended up buying from a different shop, Brian spoke in Spanish and knew the conversion.

After shopping at the market the drive of the Taxi talked the dads into driving around and doing some sightseeing.

This was all part of which our taxi driver called Love Point. The water was so blue.

We wanted tacos and margaritas for lunch. Our driver took us to a restaurant that was in a gated area on the beach that was just opening. We ordered then headed down to the teach.

The water was a little chilly.

But the kids still had no problem putting their legs in.

Brian came down to tell us our food had been delivered. It was the most delicious fresh fish tacos ever.

After lunch we headed back to the boat to rest.

Brian, Austin, and Anna napped while Ella and I enjoyed some quiet time and drinks. Her choice of drink was a non-alcoholic Rose Splash and I had a aperol spritz.

The kids had dinner at the buffet then went to the kids club. We had a sit down dinner reservation. We also saw a show then headed to bed.
