Friday Favorites 8.14.2026

Hey loves. It's Friday.  Where the heck has our summer gone? My kids start back to school next Thursday. We had Freshman orientation this past week, I am still in denial I have a Freshman. I am in denial that summer is about over. It also didn't help that this past week's weather sucked with lots of rain and storms not much sun or time to be outside. I am in no way ready for back to school. We did finally go school supply shopping last week but everything is in one pile on my table. i have a mile long to do list to prep for back to school still too. Anyone else feel like this summer went by super duper quick?

Time for some Friday Favorites with these lovely ladies: Erika, and Andrea.

~ ONE ~

Twilight at the Zoo. It is an adult only fundraiser for the animals. There are numerous bands around the zoo and unlimited beer and wine. It is a fun event and the third time Brian and I have gone, the second time with our friends.

It is also the same time that the Asian Lantern festival is going on so all the lights are lit up.

It was a hot sticky buggy evening. My back was also bothering me so not my best time but we still had fun.

~ TWO ~

I feel like this past week we have had more animals in our yard again. We had quite a few deer and babies.

And the fox was just walking up the path to the fort ready for a picture.

~ THREE ~

Fall ball started up. We had less than a month between seasons. Fall ball is a lot more laid back, no practices, not ranking, learning fundamentals, trying new positions and having fun. Our first game was last Saturday. I picked Anna and Austin up from my parents at 8am. I didn't prepare very well with activities for Anna to do, plus it was hot and muggy. She ended up on my phone, which I thought she was looking at pictures turning into a selfie photo shoot.

Austin's game went well. He was the only one to make a point the whole game.

~ FOUR ~

Can you guess the theme?

We took the kids to Star Wars Night at the Lake Erie Crushers game. (minor league baseball) You give Ella a theme and she runs with it. She even borrowed a shirt from her boyfriend to wear.

There was a good 6 plus characters to get pictures with.

Brian and Austin got to go on the field for warm-ups. The first baseman coach is one of Brian's clients.

Oh young love. We took Ella's boyfriend with us. They had a good time. It was sweet to see his arm around her. He also surprised her with a balloon flower, and got Anna a balloon rabbit.

Can you tell we are tired.

But we stayed until the end for the Star Wars themed fireworks. Anna and Austin passed out in the car before we even got out of the parking lot.

~ FIVE ~

This has been a very weird summer and we haven't had the kids pool up much. We put it up earlier this week and they played it in for a few hours before we got storms and the weather hasn't cooperated since.

 ~SIX ~

Freshman orientation aka get schedule and lockers.

I took Ella and her best friend. I didn't' realize how big the high school is, it is in the shape of a W and the points don't connect so there is a lot of walking back and forth. Plus the have a class back and forth. Just practicing their schedule I did over 6000 steps that morning.

~ SEVEN ~

Yesterday was the first day all summer these two had to go to work with me. Usually Brian or Ella is home with them. Brian had a meeting for real estate and Ella was helping out at 7th grade orientation. They paid on their tablets a little bit, colored and played in the nursery. I said if they behaved so I could get my work done we would go to McDonalds for lunch. I ended up only having to work 3 hours at the office, then after lunch did some work from home.

~ EIGHT ~

Anna got her back to school haircut. We took 3 inches off and relayed it. Austin also got his haircut but wouldn't take a picture. Now to just cut and color Ella's.
