Currently and Hodge Podge

Hey loves. Its a double post day. I am back to sharing weekly recipes. This week I am sharing Chicken Feta Pasta, it was a family hit.

I am linking up with Amy over at Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa on the first Wednesday of every month for Currently. I am also joining in the Hodge Podge link up with Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond.

I don't have the right prompts for Currently this month but we are just rolling with it.

Savoring:

Anna being little, loving and still wanting her mom and pictures.

One day will be a teenager and want nothing to do with her mother. Also did you know the duck lip pictures are back. Every picture I take of Ella she has duck lips.

Wrapping Up:

Finishing reading All Because of You by Theresa Paolo

Preparing:

Ella's first homecoming is in a month. Dress shopping in stores has been an adventure. Ella has a very specific idea of what she wants her dress to look like and color and we haven't found it in a store. Also when did homecoming dresses become over $100. So many new adventures this year. I did order her two online, then we will return the one she doesn't want or both and have to keep looking.

Ella also turns 15 next month.

This weekend we are hosting Labor Day cookout. I believe the invite list is above 60 people now. Granted everyone won't show up and they come throughout the day and not all at once. But there is also a chance of rain.

Organizing:

Everything. This summer has been a hot mess. We never got into health routines or habits by any meals. I slacked on so much from cleaning, to organizing, meal planning ete. We are working on getting into healthy routines and once a week I pick a different area to purge, organize and clean. I usually do it on Wednesday on my day off. Today's plan is the linen closest which is also the medicine cabinet. and storage.

From this Side of the Pond
1. What's something you wanted to do this summer that you never got around to doing?
More adventures with my kids. We talked about going on hikes, going to the beach, going to a water park, and going camping more. With crazy weather, working, and so much going on summer flew by.

2. Were you the student who sat in the front row or hid in the back of the class? If you could go back and take one high school class again just for fun, which would it be?
I saw in the middle honestly. Close to friends, not in the teachers face but not in the back where the wild kids sat.
I didn't have your typical high school experience but if I had to pick I would go back to French class. It was a mix of ages and a fun group of kids.

3. What characteristics do you think are essential in a good teacher (this can be applied to anyone who teaches, not just classroom teachers)?

Patience, being calm in all sorts of situations, a good listener.

4.  September 2nd is National Grits Day. Have you ever eaten grits? Are you a fan? If so how do you like yours? Would people describe you as 'having grit'?

Yes I have had grits, no I am not a fan. I have tried them a few different ways. The texture throws me off.
Yes I have described as having Grit.

5. What's something you're never too old or too young to enjoy?

Ice cream, Disney World, Naps, and Legos

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I am over this heat wave that northern Ohio is having with the heat index in the 100s. I am ready for fall weather, sweatshirts, cowgirl boots, comfy cozy.

Thank you for stopping by!!!!! If you are new here,

  1. I love your answers of not being too old to enjoy Disney World or Legos! Oh, the heat here is crazy too. I keep thinking the break has to be coming within the next week or so. Mercy.

  2. Aww! What a cute photo with Anna, yep. I recognise the duck lip photos. lol I hope Ella has a fab time at homecoming and the Labor Day cookout sounds like a big event!
The summer break does fly over! It seems impossible to fit everything in!
Patience is such an important characteristic to have as a teacher.

  3. It is ridiculously hot here today. We had strange summer weather here too, with what felt like a lot of gray weekends where storms threatened, but didn't always materialize. We haven't taken our boat out much, but also a lot of family stuff going on so I guess it was just a mish mash of a summer. I need to get back to cooking this fall. I've been a little slack in that department this summer. Hope you find a dress.
