Hey loves. Happy New Year. I love this time of the year. It always feels like fresh start, the opportunity to look back at the back year of what you enjoyed and what you want to change.
The past few weeks I have been doing a lot of thinking for my word of the year for 2025. A few years back I stopped setting new years resolutions instead I pick a word of the year and based on the word I set goals or specific intentions.
Previous Word of the Year:
2020- Focus
2021- Joy
2023- didn't pick a word
2024- Intentional
2025 Word of the Year:
Simplify
Google defines simplify as “make [something] easier to do or understand. That’s it. Make things easier.
Why?
I want to simplify the routines, rhythms and stuffs in my home to create less on my to do list and therefore more time for what matters most. (my family)
I am tired of running around trying to do all the things and spending to much time on the things that don't matter. I want to live a life centered on the most important things. From getting rid of the clutter, having space to breath, having a set routines, find balance.
How?
- Home- declutter the whole house. Get rid of things we no longer use or want. From the drawers to the closets to the basement to craft supplies... everything. If it hasn't been touched in a month or so do we really need to.
- Routines- set routines that I do every day be more predictable. From my morning routine, bedtime routine, after the kids get on the bus routine, cleaning routine. etc.
- Commitments- if it doesn't bring me joy or I don't want to do it, I am going to say no.
- Work- start time blocking to stay focused
Look at the big picture
I turn 40 this year. Yes that is not old, but I am not getting any younger. I want things different in my life. I am not trying to keep up with the Jones' or impress anyone with my collection of nick-nacks.
GOALS FOR 2025:
Over the past few weeks I really have been thinking of what I want to achieve in 2025. I am going back to a more detailed goal list, besides my word of the year. I have broken down my goals into categories, and steps to achieve these goals.
- Healthiest Year Ever
- Drink 80 oz of water each day
- Sleep 7+ hours each night
- Workout 4x a week
- Stop eating because I am bored
- Skin care routine morning and night
- 5 minutes of fresh air everyday (even if just sitting by an open window)
- Take vitamins, probiotic, and collagen every day
- 10,000 steps 3x a week
- lose 25 pounds- 2 lbs a month goal 130 pounds
- Read 120 books
- 1 book a month a personal development
- Devotional everyday
- Less scrolling
- No phone from 4-7 (unless filming)
- Learn 12 new things (More on this coming soon)
- Do 25 Things (more on this coming soon)
- Daily Refresh on Bible app
- 1 Date night a month with Brian
- Intentional time with each kid once a week
- 1 Date with girlfriend a month
- Family vacation to Disney
- Family weekend away
- Weekend away with just Brian
- Weekend at the farm
- Full house purge/declutter
- Declutter room by room
- donate everything that isn't worth over $20
- sell books

- Swap more food for homemade consistently
